For the we drove two of our customers FJ40’s (with permission of course!) from Colorado Springs up to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds located in Golden, CO., just outside Denver. The tan FJ40 aka is 2F-powered with 2300 Sniper EFI headunit with all of our Sniper accessories to make the adaptation to EFI possible. This rig is rolling on RL2000 2.5” Lift Kit and a custom set of , sporting . While many of the event attendee’s comment on how clean this vehicle was for the event, the PK40 had just came back from a big dusty desert trip! 🏜️ The green FJ40 is powered by a 5.3 Votec V8 mated to an H55F manual transmission with 60-Series Split-case. While this rig is also very clean, this owner has already taken it out for a couple of camping trips also! The super-custom 6” x 17” wheels we had on display, will be soon custom powdercoating and going onto the green-machine with ! Did anyone really see what was going on in the case also in the back of the green FJ40? 😎🛸🤷 We were so busy at our booth we didn’t make it out to go visit with our friends at or get to go see any of the other booths! But we did see an FJ45 Land Cruiser PickUp Truck (WANT!) and this turbo powered 22RE 1st-Gen. 4Runner! Yes, we are truly Toyota fans across the board!

Our beloved FZJ80 Land Cruisers with their 1FZ-FE engines are now 25 to 29 years old and have likely accumulated over 200,000 miles. Regularly scheduled Toyota services are crucial to reaching the 400,000+ mile mark in the 80-Series Land Cruiser. The 1FZ-FE Valve Cover Gasket Kit consist of the Valve Cover gasket, six Spark Plug Tube Seals, PCV Valve aka Ventilation Valve and the PCV Grommet. And yes, we have a fresh Oil Filler Cap in this kit as it serves as a gasket as well! The oil filler cap needs to be leak-free for the PCV valve to function properly.

This is the factory Toyota 1FZ-FE spark plug wire set made by Yazaki, Toyota’s official wiring vendor! These wires are made specifically for your 1993 – 1997 FZJ80 powered with the 1FZ-FE engine. These are not the ones for the FJ80 (powered by the 3FE engine).

The Toyota 1FZ-FE Service manual does not specify interval changes for spark plug wires, but recommends changing spark plugs every 45,000 miles. Due to the simplicy of changing and best practices of maintaining your 1FZ-FE engine, we’ve made the following service interval recommendations.

If you are a 1FZ-FE owner, pay close attention to the chassis and engine birthdate when changing your oil filter.

The original Toyota Oil Filter for F-engines (1958 – 03/69) is the large “drop-in” “oil bath” version. However, once Toyota converted to a screw-on oil filter, this filter donned part number 15600-41010. (This one shown is only for display purposes / private collection). This Toyota part number continued from 1970 F-Series engines through the 2F, and 3F-E Land Cruiser engines. It also made its way into the 1FZ-FE model Land Cruiser for a short period of time before moving into the smaller of the three filters without technical explanation.

This 1995 KZJ-78 Prado came in for overheating issues. We tested for a blown head gasket and further discovery lead to combustion gases in the coolant - because 1KAYZEEE! With Colorado Springs, having four military basis, we are seeing more and more of these Prado’s coming in… and what seems to be similar issues. 😭😭😭

Our beloved FZJ80 / 80-Series Land Cruisers are now 25 to 29-years old and mostly likely have collected 200,000+ miles! If you want to make it to the 400,000 mile mark, major services are paramount! Cooling is MAJOR and a SERVICE overhaul of your heater/cooling system is in order for your 80-Series Land Cruiser!
This kit includes eight OEM formed heater hoses used on the FZJ80’s 1FZ heater system. These are all found along the firewall by the heater control valve. There is one .5″ (12.7mm) X 90-degree bend heater hose that is no longer available from Toyota but we have an OEM solution included in the FZJ80 Cooling Kit. Also, the factory heater hose clamps that came on the 1FZ-FE / FZJ80 are one-time-use clamps from the factory. We’ve upgraded this kit to include the OEM Toyota Constant Torque Spring Clamps such as used on the Power Steering lines. Set it and forget it until you reach your next major overhaul service interval in route to 400,000+ miles!

Our modified OEM Aisin Fan Clutch engages at 95 degrees as we change the CST Fluid formula and adjust the temperature springs to achieve a long-term solution with a higher “lock-up” rate. This modification is known as the “Blue Hub Fan Clutch Mod” for 80-Series Toyota Land Cruisers. This modification is prevalent because it correctly matches the fan engagement to the water pump rotation dynamics. This is our “Standard Modified” version, and we also have the Super-HD Mod version.
