Some people buy cars for performance, looks, or reliability.
Then you have the people that buy these cars.

🤔🤣. ”Don't ask your Mechanic friends advice on what vehicles to buy and which ones not to, if you're just going to buy the very vehicle they told you not to.

Next time you ask, I'll just tell you that POS you're looking at is a fantastic vehicle.”

Knocked another Mk8.5 GTI S out of the park. APR A02 Wheels, MoMo M300 AS Sport tires, and H&R sport OE springs! 1500 miles. Thanks Chris for the tool upgrades!

Original disks and pads. Almost made it 70k miles. Did some cleanup with media blast and VHT flat caliper paint on the carriers, calipers, splash plate and rattle clip.

Been a while since I’ve posted. Our one owner 59k mile e91 needed the standard oil pan gasket replaced. (Yes they ALL leak). I really didn’t want to tackle this job but I got estimates anywhere from $1700 to 2 large to get the job done.

As reluctant as I was to do this job I thought that was an astronomical price for a $30 gasket.

So Nixon’s garage found a brand new QuickJack one FB marketplace. Delivered to my house five minutes away and 3 to $400 off retail.

So now we have a lift and I can do just about anything in my garage.
Labor for this job is so high because the front subframe has to be removed.
Not a problem!

I use Toyota FIPG (formed in place gasket) on both sides of the new elring gasket. So still installed “dry” as per spec but with backup from Toyota. This should never leak again.

Also serviced the GM transmission:

Nissan Rogue. Rear brakes might be due. Found front lower ball joint is gone too.. Told my neighbor to sell it before the CVT goes out. 💯 failure rate.
