Starting a business isn’t for the faint of heart.

Every successful company starts with a dream, a plan, and the courage to take a leap of faith. There are long days, difficult decisions, financial risks, and moments when you have to trust the work you’ve put in and keep moving forward.

Today, I had the honor of helping Stephanie and Romeo purchase the first truck for Relion Trucking LLC. What may look like just a truck to some people is actually the foundation of a business, a family’s future, and the beginning of a new journey.

I want to thank Stephanie and Romeo for placing their trust and confidence in me during such an important milestone. More importantly, I admire the tremendous faith they have in God—a faith that will serve them well as they build their company from the ground up.

One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Building a business requires preparation. Growing a business requires persistence. But taking that first step requires courage.

It's measured by what comes next.

Congratulations to Raman and the team at RKB Trans Inc. on adding their 11th and 12th trucks to the fleet—two 2023 Peterbilt 579s.

Watching an owner-operator grow from a single truck into a thriving fleet is one of the most rewarding parts of this business. These milestones don't happen by accident. They come from long hours, smart decisions, persistence, and a commitment to building something bigger than yourself.

One misunderstanding I've seen come up countless times with first-time owner-operators is the belief that a strong credit score automatically means an easy approval.

I understand why.

Most people compare commercial truck financing to financing a personal vehicle.

The reality is they're two completely different conversations.

A strong credit score tells a lender that you pay your bills.

What it doesn't tell them is whether a trucking business can handle:
• Revenue fluctuations
• Major repairs and downtime
• Fuel price swings
• Cash flow gaps between loads

That's because commercial lenders are underwriting business risk, not just personal credit history.

This is why lenders often look closely at:
• Industry experience
• Time in business
• Revenue consistency
• Cash reserves
• The truck's age and resale risk

A strong score helps.

It's just not the whole story.

Understanding this before you apply can save a lot of frustration and help set realistic expectations throughout the buying process.
