Thinking about a dash camera? The first choice is not the brand, it is the setup.

A one channel camera covers the road ahead and that is enough for a lot of drivers. Add a rear camera and you get a two channel system, which also records what happens behind you at the light or in the car park. A cabin camera adds the inside of the vehicle, useful for rideshare and fleet work, and the newest units can now capture a true colour view of the interior even at night with infrared.

Parking mode changes the equation too. If you want the car watched while it is parked, the camera needs a proper hardwire kit with a voltage cutoff so it does not flatten your battery.

I supply and install BlackVue dash camera systems, and I will help you pick the channel count and options that fit how you actually use the car. Contact me and we will get it sorted.

Repair bills keep climbing, and it is not only parts and labour.

A recent industry report points out that shops now have to buy new computers, software subscriptions and calibration equipment almost every year just to work on modern cars. Those costs land in the bill, and that is exactly why a proper diagnosis matters more than it used to.

The expensive mistake is not the diagnostic fee. It is replacing parts on a guess and paying for the diagnosis twice, once for the parts that did not fix it and once for the visit that finds the real cause.

I use professional grade test equipment to pinpoint the actual fault before anyone talks about parts. If your car has a problem nobody has been able to pin down, contact me and I will find it properly.

A dyno number at redline tells you almost nothing about how a truck actually drives.

What matters with a diesel is how the torque arrives. Where it comes in, how long it holds, and how the throttle responds when you are loaded or towing uphill. A calibration that chases a big peak figure and ignores the middle of the rev range can feel worse to live with than stock.

That is the reason I ask what you do with the vehicle before I touch a file. A daily driver that tows on weekends and a truck that runs heavy all week want different torque curves, and a generic off the shelf tune cannot give you both.

I am a certified tuner and a TuneZilla and POWERPULL dealer. If you want a calibration built around how you actually use the truck, contact me and I will go through the options. If there is a tune you do not see listed, reach out anyway and I will look into it.

Your lane keep assist and adaptive cruise are only as good as the aim of the camera behind the windshield.

Most drivers never think about it, but that camera has to be pointed at the road with a fair bit of precision. Change the ride height with new suspension, move the steering geometry with an alignment, or fit a new windshield and the camera can end up looking slightly off. The system still works. It just stops being accurate.

By the end of 2026 more than 132 million European vehicles on the road will have some form of ADAS, so this is not an exotic problem anymore. It is a routine part of the repair, and it should be treated that way instead of being skipped to save a step.

If you have had glass work, an alignment or suspension repairs done and the lane keep feels like it wanders or the cruise sits off centre, that is worth checking. I can scan the system, see what the module is reporting and recalibrate it properly. Contact me and I will take a look.

A dash camera is only useful if it is running when something happens, and that is the part most installations get wrong.

The camera itself matters, but the install decides whether it actually works for you. A two-channel setup gives you the road ahead and the cabin in one recording. Proper parking mode keeps an eye on the car while it is parked, and a hardwire kit with a voltage cutoff is what lets it do that without draining your battery flat.

The camera should be mounted where it sees the road without blocking your view, and the cable should be routed so it is not hanging across the windshield or pulling on the trim.

I can supply and install dash camera systems, and I can walk you through how parking mode and the settings work once it is in. If you want one fitted properly before the holidays, contact me and I will get you sorted.

A coolant leak rarely announces itself. Usually it is a small sweet smell, a slow drop in the reservoir, or a crusty white or pink residue around a hose clamp, thermostat housing or water pump that gives it away.

Do not just top it up and keep driving. Coolant is what keeps the engine at the right temperature, and running low can turn a cheap hose or clamp repair into a much bigger job. A pressure test is the quickest way to find where it is actually escaping, instead of guessing at the part that looks wettest.

On many European engines the thermostat and its housing are one assembly, and the plastic housings do age and crack. That is a reason to test the system and confirm the cause before buying parts, not a reason to replace everything on the front of the engine.

If your coolant level keeps dropping or you smell it after a drive, contact me and I can pressure test the system and show you exactly where it is leaking.

Cold mornings are the most common time for a battery to finally give up. Before that happens, a proper battery and charging system test tells you where the battery actually stands: state of charge, how it holds up under load, and whether the alternator is charging it properly.

If it does need a new battery, it is not always plug and play. On many modern cars the new battery has to be registered or coded to the vehicle so the charging system knows it is dealing with a fresh battery, not the old worn one. Skip that step and the car may undercharge or overcharge it, which shortens the life of the part you just paid for.

On Mercedes models with a second battery, the auxiliary battery has its own job, and it is worth checking too, even when the main battery tests fine.

I can come to you and test the battery and charging system where the car is parked, then explain what the results mean and whether replacement or registration is needed. If you want your battery checked before winter, contact me and I will take a look.

A mobile visit can get a lot done, but some repairs genuinely need a shop.

In your driveway, I can test the battery and charging system, diagnose warning lights, scan live data, check accessible electrical components, and handle minor repairs with hand tools.

If the job needs a lift, press equipment, or major disassembly, it belongs in the shop. A good mobile diagnostic visit should give you an honest answer about that upfront, not guess in your driveway or replace parts without a clear reason.

If you need help figuring out what your vehicle needs, contact me and I’ll be happy to assist.

The AA reports that body control module-related faults have roughly doubled since 2020, as cars carry more electronics.

The BCM is a central hub for systems such as lights, wipers, locks, windows and alarms. When it has a problem, one failing module can make it look like several unrelated electrical faults.

But symptoms alone aren’t enough to condemn or replace the module. Wiring, connectors or a power-supply issue can cause similar trouble. A proper scan and electrical testing help identify the actual cause before parts are replaced.

If your vehicle has unusual electrical symptoms, contact Euromotive Technical for diagnostic help.

As cars get older, inspection lists can get longer. The TÜV Report 2026 found that 21.5% of inspected cars in Germany had significant or dangerous defects, while the average car age there reached 10.6 years. It’s a useful reminder to prioritize repairs, not a reason to panic.

Start with anything that could affect safety or make the car unreliable: brakes, tires, steering, suspension, or fluid leaks. Have the issue diagnosed, understand why it needs attention, and ask what could happen if it’s delayed.

Other confirmed repairs may be planned and budgeted for, depending on their condition and the vehicle’s needs. The key is knowing what’s urgent and what can reasonably wait.

With 25+ years in automotive repair, I believe in diagnosing first and explaining the findings clearly. If your car has a growing repair list, contact me and we can sort through the priorities together.
