⛽ Tuesday Tip: Don't Let Your Gas Tank Run on Empty!
Running on empty costs more than you realize.
We've all been there—seeing the fuel light come on and thinking, "I can make it a little farther." But making a habit of driving with less than a ¼ tank of gas can do more than leave you searching for the next gas station.
Here's why it's a good idea to keep your tank at least one-quarter full:
✅ Protects your fuel pump. Your fuel pump relies on gasoline to help keep it cool. When the fuel level gets too low, the pump has to work harder, which can shorten its lifespan.
✅ Helps keep debris out of your fuel system. Over time, tiny particles can settle at the bottom of your fuel tank. While your fuel filter catches most contaminants, consistently driving on a very low tank can increase the chance of drawing sediment into the fuel system, adding unnecessary strain to the filter.
✅ Gives you peace of mind. Whether traffic suddenly backs up, you take an unexpected detour, or you're heading out on a road trip, having more than a quarter tank means you're better prepared.
🚗 Pete's Garage Tip: Make it a habit to fill up when your tank reaches about ¼ full. It's a simple step that can help protect your vehicle and keep you confidently on the road.
