Well… that plan didn’t work out. 🤦‍♀️

Lunch break and decided to take the goats for a walk out back. I forgot about two things:

1. The trail camera. (Got an alert on my phone and a text from J saying, “I’m watching you.” 😆)

2. The corn feeder… which immediately ended the walk because the goats were far more interested in cleaning up the leftover corn. 🌽🐐

Another week, another fresh backyard bouquet. It’s become my favorite midweek “chore.” A little time spent picking flowers, and a little pop of color to brighten the week. 💐

Winds are finally starting to pick up, and I’m grateful for the breeze because we’re under another Extreme Heat Warning. With these clear blue skies, though, you’d never guess Tropical Storm Bertha is nearby. I guess she’s moving pretty slowly. I talked to my girlfriend back in Alabama, and it’s already storming there, so I’m guessing we’ll see some rain later this afternoon. I even adjusted my work schedule today so I could tackle my outdoor projects while the weather is clear and save the indoor work for when the rain rolls in.

Good morning!

I whipped up a few jars of creamed honey last night, and the consistency is velvety smooth and absolutely delicious! It’s especially good spread on toast, biscuits, fresh fruit, charcuterie boards, or even used as a glaze or frosting.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, creamed honey is 100% pure raw honey that’s been carefully crystallized into a smooth, creamy spread. Nothing is added, and nothing is taken away. It is simply honey with a different texture.

These jars are just for my own kitchen and a few gifts, but once we have a full honey harvest to sell, I’ll likely offer creamed honey too!

4.5 hours, two outfit changes from being drenched, and at least a gallon of sweat between the 2 of us later… the goat stall is finally enclosed! 🙌

We still have a little patching and paint ahead of us, but it’s protected from the elements just in time for the tropical storm headed our way later this week.

One more project checked off the never-ending homestead to-do list. 🐐❤️

Good Sunday morning from our little slice country heaven out here in God’s country.

It’s been 6 months since we fully moved in. We still have SO much work left and an endless list of projects to complete before we fully bring our vision for this property to life. It can be overwhelming thinking of all that is not done. So, this morning, instead of focusing on all we have left to do, I took time to appreciate what we have completed so far. I walked around with my coffee and a thankful heart. We are surrounded by so much natural beauty, have fantastic neighbors, and finally building a life we’ve dreamt about for a long time . All those years of instability, sacrifices, and constant moving are starting to feel worth it.

Now it’s off to tackle more farm chores, help put up tree stands in the back forty, and work on our goat stall project.
