This 17XCT came to me in typical condition. Looks good from twenty feet away, until you dig deeper and see the former owner had outfitted the bike with some goofy aftermarket crap and had little regard to maintenance. About the only thing right the old owner did was to keep all the stock parts and include them with the sale.
So the new owner had it (and the spare parts) shipped across the country for me to straighten out. First thing I did was to strip off the terrible aftermarket exhaust that was hastily scabbed to the bike. I went back to the stock headpipe and then slipped Bassani DNT mufflers on the end. The engine was then outfitted with Lloydz 501 cams and filter and retuned with a Maximus. Note the attached dyno graph where you can see the 30hp gain!
Then I went through the rest of the bike. New fuel filter, rebuild the forks, flush the brake fluid, straightened out the rear suspension which had been poorly modified. Lastly, the customer picked out a new set of handlebars which I fitted up. All in all it was a very typical project for me that I was happy to do, knowing how much better the bike was going to be for it's new owner!
