Many of the vans that come through our service department were built elsewhere or assembled by the owner. Most do not need to be torn apart and started over. They just need an experienced team to assess what is there, understand how it was built, and make the next round of upgrades work properly.

That might mean cleaning up the electrical system, replacing older components, adding capacity, or reworking something modified a few times over the years. Quality upgrade work is not just about adding new parts. It is about making sure the new work makes sense with everything already there.

If you like the van you already have but know a few things could work better, bring it by. We are happy to pick up where the build left off.

A lot happens before there is much to look at.

The early stages are where a lot of the craftsmanship starts to show. Insulation, adhesives, window prep, upholstery, trim, and all the little details that must be right before the finished materials go in.

It is not the part of the build that usually gets photographed, but it is the part everything else depends on. If the prep is right, the next layer fits better, seals better, finishes cleaner, and works the way it should.

That is how these vans come together at Vanlife Customs. The finished interior gets the attention, but the quality starts much earlier.

The finished clinic is what people see. The systems behind it are what make the work possible.

This van was built so the team inside can focus on their patients, not on whether the lights, climate control, charging, plumbing, or equipment will do their jobs.

A lot of the most important work disappears once the interior is finished. That is the goal. When everything is designed and built to work together, the clinic can move through the day the way it should, and the people inside can stay focused on the people they are there to help.

That is what a build like this is really about. Not the batteries, wiring, or plumbing on their own, but what those systems allow the clinic to do once the van is out in the world.

A mobile clinic can’t cancel appointments because the batteries are low.

That was part of the challenge with this Ford Transit high roof, built as a mobile women’s health clinic.

Inside, the van has an exam space, a private restroom, a handwashing sink, rooftop air conditioning, and heat. A separate electrical system supports it all, keeping the clinic running whether the van is parked or on the road.

The system combines 920Ah of heated lithium battery capacity with alternator charging, solar, shore power, and Victron monitoring so the team can see exactly where the system stands throughout the day.

By the time the cabinets close, most of that work disappears.

This is what craftsmanship looks like. The patients never need to think about it. They just get a comfortable exam room that comes to them.

Not every van that comes through our shop needs a full conversion.

Some owners are starting with a brand-new chassis and a long list of ideas. Others already have a van they like but need better electrical, more capability, repairs, or a few upgrades to make it work better for how they use it.

Walk through the lot on any given day, and you will usually see a little bit of everything. Vans waiting to come inside, finished projects ready for pickup, existing builds here for upgrades, and our own shop van running around town for parts.

That variety pretty well captures what we do. Sometimes the right answer is a complete build. Sometimes it is helping you get more out of the van you already own.

Labor Day weekend in Wyoming.

One of those nights where you look up and realise the sky is doing all the work.

A very small bit of Fiamma sneaking into frame, just to remind us how we got here in these epic vehicles we build.

Vans are good. Getting them somewhere like this is better.

Behind the scenes!

There’s a lot that goes into building a vehicle like our latest medical outreach van - and much of it disappears by the time the vehicle is finished.

Aluminum trims, bumpers, skirts and mountings designed and fabricated from scratch. Cabinetry custom designed and built. Penetrations and holes in the roof. Components modified to fit the custom environment. Wiring, plumbing, insulation, structure, mounting, sealing, waterproofing, testing… and plenty of measuring twice before doing something irreversible.

That’s one of the things we enjoy about these builds. There isn’t a catalog of parts that turns a Sprinter chassis and an empty composite box into a mobile medical clinic. A lot of the answers have to be figured out by our team and their creative craftsmanship.

The finished vehicle gets the glamour shots.

This is how it actually gets built.

Not every van we build is headed for the mountains to camp.

This one is heading somewhere people go to treat themselves and relax!

Just finished building a mobile hydrafacial spa, bringing together clean design, durable materials, smart storage, lighting, water systems, refrigeration, and a treatment space that feels calm the moment you step inside.

It’s a reminder that the skills behind a great camper van aren’t limited to camping. Thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and attention to detail matter just as much when the destination is a client’s driveway instead of a trailhead.

We love projects that challenge us to think differently.

Motorcycles and vans just make sense together.

One gets you there. The other gets you beyond there. Even the tiny ones like the Honda Grom unlock another level of adventure!

Over the years we’ve built countless vans for riding of every kind - trials riders, adventure riders, dirt bikers, racers, and for bikes without human power! Mountain bikers, road racers, triathletes and everything in between. We understand the details that matter: secure bike storage, gear organization, battery charging, wet gear management, comfortable sleeping arrangements, and off-grid capability to stay out a little longer.

Because we’re riders ourselves, these aren’t features we’re guessing at. They’re solutions born from our own weekends spent chasing trails, campsites, races, and adventures.

A great moto van isn’t just transportation. It’s the basecamp, workshop, gear room, hotel room, and campfire hangout all rolled into one.

For us, motorcycles and vans have always been the perfect pairing.

A few recent projects that have rolled out!

Adventure rigs. Family vans. Mobile workspaces. Service vehicles. Lots of custom one-offs.

Different customers. Different missions. Different challenges.

What they all have in common is that they started with a blank canvas and a vision for something better.

We’re fortunate to spend our days turning dreams into reality, one vehicle at a time.

Here’s to the builders, dreamers, explorers, and problem-solvers who trust us with their projects.

Have a great weekend.
