“Another project that shows what our team is capable of.”

The customer originally purchased it as a street-race Mustang that, on paper, had the potential to run low 9s or high 8s in its existing configuration.

Once we got the car in the shop and started going through it, we found several issues that needed to be addressed. We corrected those issues while continuing to improve the combination and optimize the car for the track.

Today, the car weighs 3,563 lbs with the driver and makes 1,060 WHP and 1,070 WTQ.

The combination consists of a 5.2L sleeveless block, forged pistons and connecting rods, stock heads, stock valvetrain and stock cams, paired with a Whipple 3.8L making approximately 25 psi of boost. The converter was custom-built specifically to our specifications.

After countless hours of work, testing, and tuning, the result is a consistent and reliable 1/4-mile car, with more than 15 passes between 8.44 and 8.52.

The best 60-foot has been a 1.19 with the transbrake and 1.23 without it—and the best part is the consistency, even dealing with the Florida heat, whether racing during the day or at night.

We also made significant improvements to the oiling system. The car now maintains 100+ psi of oil pressure at high RPM. When it first came to us, it was barely making 60 psi.

This is what we love about performance work: taking a car with potential, addressing the problems, optimizing every part of the combination, and turning it into something that is fast, consistent, and reliable.
