It was a beautiful cool weekend at Roebling Road for the SIC. We participated in the test day gathering information and breaking in a new motor. We also witnessed a bad crash, so prayers for the driver and his family who was airlifted out. Qualifying set Cole up in 6th. The Sprint ended with the same position. In the Championship race, he ended up on the tail, 13th on the start. He drove up to 8th on the start, continuing his charge through the 1st lap up to his preferred drafting partner in 6th. As he and his partner rolled into turn 1, another driver turned into their line, the front driver made it through, but the side hit sent Cole sideways and another car hit him head on, sending him into the sand trap. The door and bumper are not okay, but the driver was, and after being pulled out of the sand the car was driving fine, but by then he was 2 laps down and chose to come off the track. Congratulations to all the winners! Thank you SAARC and Roebling Road for a great weekend and social!

Despite a disappointing P33 finish in the Championship race at Road America after the differential housing broke on lap 9, it was still a great experience racing against the best drivers in the country. Cole started P28, dropping to P30 before finding some help. He was up to 24th and moving forward when the rear broke. The test days were challenging and rewarding, qualifying in the rain was great practice and the dry qualifying and the race confirmed that you need a friend in Spec Miata! Unfortunately Cole also had his first roadkill when a small animal darted under his car in the kink.

Qualifying didn't go as well as we hoped, but we made it to the Championship race! Cole will be starting 28th in this incredibly talented field of 38 Spec Miatas. We have the day off today, but can cheer on the SMX cars this afternoon. Spec Miata races at 10:15 Sunday! Then comes.that looong drive back home.

Cole improved his qualifying position in the second try in the rain. After some time with Danny Steyn and some new tires, he qualified 18th in the rain out of 32 cars. Late this morning they will get an opportunity to qualify on a dry track.
