Their biggest worry should be running out of candy.

Before your teen heads out this Halloween, talk about slowing down, scanning for children near parked cars and crossings, and keeping distractions away. Leave extra time so there’s no reason to rush.

Watch for trick-or-treaters. What’s your family’s reminder before handing over the keys?

Halloween is Saturday. Start the driving conversation now.

Ask your teen to slow down in neighborhoods and watch for people near driveways, corners, and parked cars. Give crossing pedestrians time and space.

What’s one habit you’ll practice together before the weekend?

“Can my friends ride with me?” Talk through the answer before the keys come out.

Check the passenger restrictions that apply to your teen’s license, then agree on your family’s rules. Help your teen practice a simple response: “I can’t give you a ride today.”

Make the boundary clear before weekend plans begin. Have you had this conversation yet?

Give your teen a way out before they need one.

Talk today about what to do if a driver has been drinking or using drugs: do not get in. Call you or another trusted adult for a safe ride. Make sure your teen knows who that backup person is.

This Teen Driver Safety Week, make the ride-home plan clear. Who is on your family’s backup list?

10/22/2026

A long day should end with rest, not a risky drive.

Before your teen heads out, ask how rested they feel. If they’re sleepy, help them delay the trip or arrange a ride with an alert, trusted adult. If sleepiness starts on the road, they should pull over somewhere safe rather than push through.

Make rest part of your family’s driving plan.

A lot can change in the seconds it takes to notice a hazard and react.

More speed means your teen’s car travels farther during those seconds. On your next practice drive, talk about the posted limit and when conditions call for a slower speed.

Try asking: “What’s ahead that might mean we need to slow down?”

10/20/2026

A notification can wait. Your teen’s attention belongs on the road.

Before starting the car, choose the route, put the phone out of reach, and turn on Do Not Disturb. Need to respond? Find a safe place to park first.

Parents, what helps your family keep phones out of the drive?

The first habit to practice happens before the car moves.

Before every drive with your teen, check that everyone is buckled up. The shoulder belt goes across the chest, and the lap belt sits low across the hips.

Make it the same routine in every seat, on every trip, including when your teen rides with someone else.

Safe driving starts with a conversation. Before the next drive, ask your teen: “What would you do if a friend distracted you behind the wheel?”

Talk through a plan together: buckle up, put the phone away, follow speed limits, and never drive impaired or drowsy.

National Teen Driver Safety Week is October 18–24. Pick one habit to practice together this week. Which conversation will you start?

Today, October 17, is National Slow Down, Move Over Day. 🚧

Roadside workers, first responders, and stranded motorists need space to stay safe.

When you see a vehicle stopped beside the road with flashing lights:
• Look ahead and stay alert.
• Move into a lane away when it’s safe.
• If you can’t safely move over, slow to a reasonable speed and pass carefully.

Give them room to get home. Make it a habit every day.

Five more out of the jungle. 🌿

Abraham, Eli, Mia, and Jacqueline finished their Jungle course this week, with classroom and behind-the-wheel both done. Every one of them put in real hours on El Paso roads with our instructors, and their parents got a report after every drive.

Next up for them is the DPS road test. Our next group starts Monday with the Canutillo fall break session, Oct 12–15, and Canutillo families get 10% off.

That's fall break.

Two sessions, four days each, and a lot of teens who walked in never having sat in a driver's ed classroom and walked out with the requirement completed and their written permit test behind them.

Next for all of them: DPS for the permit, then behind the wheel with us. We'll be posting those.

Thank you to every parent who trusted us with them. If your teen missed this one, give us a call and we'll talk through what's next.

Parents ask us what four days of driver's ed actually looks like. This is it: a real classroom on Sunland Park Drive, Richie at the front, and teens working through their state-required classroom hours together.

By Thursday, this group will have completed their classroom requirement and taken the written permit test. Next they get their learner permit at DPS, and their behind-the-wheel lessons with a Jungle instructor are scheduled around your family's calendar.

Our next session runs October 12–15, during Canutillo ISD fall break, and it's open to every student. 9:00 AM–3:30 PM, $599 with behind-the-wheel included. Limited spots.

Session 2 of our fall break intensive is underway, and Richie showed up with a shirt that says it all: Don't be a butt sniffer. Translation? Don't tailgate.

Following distance is one of the easiest habits for a new driver to get wrong and one of the most important to get right on El Paso roads. We'd rather it stick on day one.

Next up: our October 12–15 intensive, timed to Canutillo ISD fall break and open to every student. Teens complete their full classroom requirement and take the written permit test in four days, 9:00 AM–3:30 PM. $599, with behind-the-wheel lessons included and scheduled afterward. Limited spots.

Two more out of the jungle! Santiago and Ethan have finished their full Jungle course, classroom and behind-the-wheel, and we couldn't be prouder.

Every hour on real El Paso roads with a Jungle instructor is about one thing: making sure new drivers are truly ready, and parents have peace of mind when they pull out of the driveway.

Session 2 of our fall break intensive starts Monday, October 5. Limited spots.

A full class just wrapped their intensive classroom hours and written permit test — four days, done. So proud of this group and the work they put in this week.

Next up for them: DPS for their permit, then behind-the-wheel scheduled around their family's calendar.

If your teen still needs to get started, Session 2 (Oct 5–8) still has spots, and we've just added Session 3 for Oct 12–15 (CISD Fall Break, open to everyone).

Day one of our Fall Break Driver's Ed Intensive is in the books. A full room of El Paso teens spent their first morning of fall break learning the rules of the road, and they were laughing and raising their hands the whole time.

Over the next three days they'll finish their state-required classroom hours and take the written permit test, so they're ready for behind-the-wheel lessons with a Jungle instructor. If your teen missed this week, there are two more sessions: October 5 – 8 and October 12 – 15, 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM. $599 includes the behind-the-wheel lessons, scheduled afterward. Limited spots.
