There are some jobs that mean a little more than just making a vehicle shine, and today’s detail was one of them. This 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness belongs to some longtime friends of mine who are passing it down to their daughter for her Sweet 16. I was honored to attend their wedding years ago, and I’ve had the privilege of watching their little girl grow into an amazing young lady. Now she’s about to receive her first vehicle, and I got to play a small part in making that moment even more special. Before the celebration, though, this Subaru and I had some business to take care of. 😂 The interior had accumulated the wear and tear that comes with daily life, and the exterior was ready for a proper reset. After a thorough interior and exterior detail, every surface was cleaned, refreshed, and protected so this Outback is ready to begin its next chapter looking its absolute best. Moments like these remind me that detailing isn’t always just about cars—sometimes it’s about helping families create memories that will last a lifetime. One of the things I love most about owning 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing is that so many of my customers have become friends. So when one of my most supportive repeat customers reached out and said she wanted to surprise her husband with a complete interior and exterior detail on his 2022 Kia Sportage LX as a birthday gift, my response was simple… “Say less! I’m on it!” These are the jobs I enjoy the most because it’s about so much more than cleaning a vehicle. It’s about helping someone give a thoughtful gift that they’ll appreciate every time they get behind the wheel. I gave this Sportage the full 10-8 treatment inside and out—from the dirty floor mats, dusty interior, and well-used cargo area to a hand-washed exterior that brought the silver paint back to life with a crisp, clean shine. This one earned every bit of its 10-8 status. When this 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit rolled into my garage from a repeat customer here in Elmhurst, I knew I was in for a battle. I’m not pulling any punches on this one—it was one of the dirtiest interiors I’ve tackled in a long time. There were whole cookies hiding in the seat tracks, sticky residue caked into the cup holders, footprints covering the backs of the seats, crumbs in every corner, and enough mystery debris to keep the vacuum working overtime. It looked like this Jeep had faithfully served its family, and it definitely showed. Four and a half hours later, with the thermometer reading 92° outside, every surface had been cleaned, every crevice chased down, and the interior was transformed back into the luxury SUV it was meant to be. That’s what I love about this job. No matter how chaotic things look when they arrive, there’s nothing more satisfying than handing the keys back to a customer knowing their vehicle feels new again. This Jeep Summit is officially 10-8!

Nothing says “welcome home” from a road trip quite like bringing half of Michigan’s insect population back in your grille! 😄 This brand-new 2027 Kia Telluride SXP X-Line arrived at 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing after an adventure up north, and those bugs weren’t about to come off with a quick rinse. A proper hand wash, careful bug removal, thorough interior detail, and attention to every surface had this gorgeous jade green Telluride looking showroom fresh again in no time. Even on a day when the thermometer in my garage topped 91° and the humidity hovered around 47%, the work still had to meet the same standard it does every single time. This beautiful 2025 Lexus GX550 Luxury belonged to an Elmhurst resident who took advantage of my pick-up and drop-off valet service, so while they went about their day, I was making sure every inch of the interior was cleaned, vacuumed, wiped down, and refreshed. Leather, trim, carpets, floor mats, glass, cargo area, and every row of seating got the attention they deserved. The heat may change how much I sweat, but it never changes the quality of the result. One of my favorite regular visitors rolled back into the garage this week. Meet “Genny,” this elegant 2023 Genesis GV80. I’ve been taking care of her since the day she was purchased new in 2023, and she comes back to see me three or four times a year. About a year ago, I ceramic coated the paint, and this visit was another reminder of why I believe so strongly in quality ceramic coatings. Genny had just returned from a family road trip, but you would never know it now. I can always tell when someone truly loves their vehicle. The signs are obvious to me. A car like this immaculate 2024 Lexus TX500h F SPORT doesn’t get this way by accident—it comes from an owner who genuinely cares. Even so, life leaves its mark. The exterior had picked up tar that was taking away from the sharp, crisp lines Lexus is known for, and inside there were unmistakable signs of children at play. The truth is, even the most meticulous car owner will eventually succumb to the wrath of a toddler! My job was simply to erase the evidence. After a thorough interior and exterior detail, the paint was bright and clean again, the tar was gone, the interior was refreshed from front to back, and this beautiful Lexus was back to looking the way it deserves. Another beautiful Lexus is headed back to an Elmhurst driveway with the protection it deserves. Jimmy from Rapid Response Professional Detailing and I teamed up once again to give this brand new 2026 Lexus IS350 F SPORT the full ceramic coating treatment. We started with a thorough decontamination wash and carefully inspected the paint, where we found several scratches left behind by fallen tree branches during the recent storms. Those weren’t going to stay. After some heavy compounding and paint correction, we were able to polish away the damage and restore the finish before applying Undrdog Marine ceramic coating to the paint, exterior plastics, and every piece of glass. Now this Lexus has the deep gloss, slick finish, and long-lasting protection that will make routine washing easier while helping defend it against the elements. Some jobs are relaxing. This wasn’t one of them. 😅 This 2024 Honda Odyssey Touring belonged to a busy Elmhurst family and a first-time customer, and from the moment I opened the doors I knew I was going to have to roll up my sleeves. On a hot, humid day, this family hauler wasn’t going down without a fight. Crumbs in every corner, kid chaos in every row, and enough evidence of daily life to keep me busy for hours. I think I’ve earned a new title… Chaos Wrangler. Five and a half hours later, every row of seats, floor mat, cup holder, panel, and cargo area had been cleaned and refreshed, leaving this Odyssey looking the way it deserved to. There’s something incredibly satisfying about taking a vehicle that’s been working hard for a family and giving it a fresh start. The owner picked up a clean, chaos-free minivan, and seeing that smile made every drop of sweat worth it. Mission accomplished. 10-8!
