UPDATE: REUNITED WITH OWNER. THE DOG ALSO HAD A 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DOG THAT WAS MISSING HER🐾🩷🐾🩷

Please share. This babygirl clearly has a home and must have been scared by storms/fireworks and ran off. Found in Middleborough, but could’ve came from any neighborhood. Super sweet. Has been washed, no fleas , ears were clean, feel like definitely ran away. She wants nothing but to sit next to your lap, she cannot stay where she is currently being held. Sadly, being slightly older, black dog and shelters full, you know what that can mean. Asking for help. Please share to find owner. She has been scanned and no chip😢
Please pm with any info or help. Thank you

I needed to respond.....

Wow. THANK YOU all for the amazing comments and love you sent about the marina and all the gas girls/guys who worked the fuel dock over the years. Jenn, who managed the fuel, and the crew that did the work deserve all of your kind comments and thoughts. We always worked hard to WIN your business and your trust, and it looks like we did a pretty good job! I can’t thank you enough for the comments.
To respond to some of the specific things that have been said:
1. I have not heard from a single elected official—county or state.
2. I have not been contacted by any news media outlet. When this first started, I tried to reach out and was basically ignored. I guess not a big enough story.
3. This is a common sense issue, not a liberal or conservative, not a Republican or Democrat issue: We are a maritime state; we rely on maritime businesses and regulations that are unreasonable, don’t improve the environment, are expensive, and drive people out of business are the problem!
4. Fundraising. Several people have reached out directly and wanted to start a fundraising campaign. That is VERY flattering, but it is really a huge undertaking. Some folks think that we could raise $400k and put Norman Creek Marina back in the fuel business.
Well, that is true: If someone gave me $400k, I would install a fuel system and re-open. BUT, that is a huge amount of money to raise and you would be raising it for a private business! Now, it doesn’t make much each year after I pay for the fuel, pay to comply with the state regulations, employees, insurance, etc., but it is a private money-making business.
Bottom Line: I think it is amazing that several of you suggested this and wanted to do this. THANK YOU. I certainly won’t stop you, and if folks try, I will work/help. BUT I can’t spearhead such an effort. This would truly have to be a grassroots effort.
5. The Governor. Many of you wrote about the Governor. He was in charge when these regulations went into effect so he has to own them and the consequences. I am virtually certain he knows NOTHING about them; they are occurring below his level.
Nonetheless, I believe in competent, committed, good government, and this has not been that, and he owns that in my opinion. And we should call him on that. But we should not use racial slurs or personal attacks—that only weakens our argument and hurts US, not him or his advisors.
I did reach out months ago to his then Chief of Staff and never heard back. THAT is not good competent government. So please, continue to criticize him and his staff, continue to push this story, continue to demand the government we deserve!
Thank you all for your support. It means a great deal to us.

Good Evening Friends of Norman Creek Marina.
I think it is important for me, as the owner, to provide more details as to why we are not selling fuel this year—and probably won’t in the future.
It is sad: Norman Creek Marina has been serving Middle River since the 1970s. This is a picture of our original gas dock!
image.png
And we served a pretty broad range of customers from regular boats to the tow boat companies to our commercial crabbers to the State DNR and the County Police. And for all those years, we followed the Maryland regulations about selling fuel….AND THAT IS NOT EASY OR CHEAP! We spent between 8 and 10k dollars a year complying pressure and leak test; special insurance on the tank; CP annual test; daily measurements and monthly reports. We were ALWAYS in compliance.
Well, the State changed the rules! They passed a new rule in 2022 that took effect 13 June 2025, that required us to RIP OUT half of our compliant system and upgrade it. It wasn’t, “hey if you are upgrading you need to meet these new standards,” it was “we don’t care that you are in compliance on the 12th of June, unless you change everything you are out of compliance on the 13th!
To meet the new standards would have cost approximately $160,000. AND that would mean putting new pipes into an old dock. Plus, we would still have the old underground tank (even though it was old, it was in perfect condition when we took it out of the ground). That made no sense. So we made the difficult decision to take the whole system out, upgrade, and then see how much it would cost to put a new gas/diesel system in.
Well, the cost for a full new system (new tank, etc.) is between $375,000 and $400,000. We are a little marina that sells as much gas in a year as a gas station sells in a month! We just couldn’t do it. So, that is why we are OUT of the gas/diesel business.
I have been VERY clear with the State of Maryland: Their new regulations put us out of business. There was no effort to work with us, no grant funding, nothing. Neither the State nor Baltimore County really care about the key businesses that MUST exist to serve our boating community.
So Middle River which is home to somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000 boats, now has four places that sell diesel and five that sell gas.
I feel terrible about this, especially for the hard-working commercial crabbers and other commercial boaters: We gave them access 24/7/365 so that they could keep working. Now we can’t.
For all of our loyal customers and supporters, over the years: THANK YOU. I wish I was not writing this, but this is the hard truth. THANK YOU for your love and support.

We want to keep you updated. We have a completely brand new pier with floating pier and amazing decking. We’ve added several brand new lifts and still have our slips. The pier is almost complete and will be very very soon. We are sad to say that we will not have fuel as we did for over 40 years. We have been up to compliance year after year, passing all state testing yearly with flying colors. The state came in with yet new regulations which meant updating certain things and if we are updating one, we might as well update all. This comes in at around $350K. We have ALWAYS been honest and open with you, our family, so we don’t mind telling you all of this. This is not to say that we will never again have fuel !!!, but not in the near future. If, and/or when we do, we will tell you. With that,WE APPRECIATE each and everyone of you for your loyalty, business, and above all, the friendship we have formed all of these years. Just stay tuned to our news/page and stay friends. We LOVE you all.
We will have different news and events coming!!!!! Stay tuned. Enjoy this upcoming season.
