In 1958, Jim Logue of Long Beach, California installed hydraulics in his custom 1954 Ford — known as the "Fab X" — getting the idea from the Citroën, which used hydraulics to raise the car for off-road driving. Logue reverse-engineered the system to make it go low instead, making it practical for street cruising creating the first documented lowrider with a hydraulic lift system!

Before becoming automobile manufacturers themselves, the Dodge Brothers — John and Horace — ran a precision machine shop that built engines and mechanical components for Henry Ford's early cars? Their craftsmanship was so critical to Ford's early success that without the Dodge Brothers' manufacturing expertise, Ford's automobiles may never have gotten off the ground. The brothers later used their earnings and experience to launch their own car company in 1914, becoming one of Ford's biggest competitors!
