For the past 50 years, Ferrea has been manufacturing hard core racing components for various types of engines in a wide range of categories worldwide. Our company uses the latest technological advances gained through the development of engine valve programs for Formula 1, Indy Car, NASCAR, Sprint Car, Drag and Road racing teams. Match your degrees.

Valve locks and retainers come in different angles: 6°, 7°, Super 7° (8°) and 10°. The lock and retainer need to share the same angle to get full taper contact and seat the lock bead correctly in the valve groove.

Mismatch them and you get edge-only contact, less clamping force, and a risk of the lock or retainer letting go at high RPM.

✅ 6° lock → 6° retainer

✅ 7° lock → 7° retainer

✅ Super 7° (8°) lock → Super 7° (8°) retainer

✅ 10° lock → 10° retainer

Hollow stem valves? Check your exhaust guide length.

When you install Ferrea hollow stem exhaust valves, the bottom of the valve guide should sit at the same height as the start of the valve’s neck-down, with the valve seated in the head.

✅ Correct heat transfer from the guide to the valve

✅ No excessive carbon build-up on the neck-down
