With the prices of everything skyrocketing, the last thing you need is a car repair bill; that's why regular maintenance is important! Maintenance is to help provent an expensive repair bill and keeps your car out of the shop. So what is regular maintenance? A lot of people assume just changing your oil is good enough, but the truth is that's only part of it.

What to have checked:
Brakes
Coolant
Battery
Belts & hoses
Air filter
Transmission fluid
Suspension & steering

Something doesn't have to break for it to be replaced; things typically give signs before failing.

What's DEF Actually For?

DEF = Diesel Exhaust Fluid

It isn't a fuel additive, and it doesn't go in the diesel tank. Modern diesel emissions systems inject DEF into the exhaust system to help reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

Diesel in the DEF tank = bad day
DEF in the diesel tank = VERY bad day

Is your battery light on?

Did you know that even if the car starts, it doesn't mean the charging system is good?

A battery light can come on for numerous reasons, and it's better to get it checked out before it leaves you stranded. An overcharging alternator can lead to a fire if it goes unaddressed. A bad battery makes the car run on just the alternator, which can result in shortening its life and costing you more money.
