FORD “FOUR VERSIONS OF 5R55”

Although the 5R55N is very similar to the W or S models, only a few parts are interchangeable.

We receive numerous calls about these where someone has rebuilt the transmission, yet still experiences the same symptoms. The most common problem we see on these units is the excess wear on the case or valve body.

When Should You Change Your Oil?

Hint: The answer isn't every 3,000 miles

Knowing when to change your oil can save you money and unnecessary dealer visits while you help the environment.

Bad driving habits put extra stress on your transmission. The biggest offenders we see?

🛑Shifting from reverse to drive while rolling: always come to a full stop before changing gears.
🛑Constant stop-and-go braking: causes overheating and fluid breakdown.
🛑Towing or hauling heavy loads without proper gear selection.

These behaviors can fry your transmission faster than you think — especially in the Texas summer heat, where fluid temperatures can soar past 200°F.

At The Transmission Shop, we know that even when you take pristine care of your vehicle, the clutch will eventually go out and will need to be replaced.

🔧We’re here to give you fast, affordable, and quality clutch replacement services so that you don’t skip a beat.

How to Know if You Need to Replace Your Clutch

Manual transmissions typically can be more reliable than an automatic transmission. They can often last for 100,000 miles or more.

Keep your shift smooth! Follow the Manufacturer’s Service Schedule

Every vehicle has its own recommended interval for transmission service — usually between 30,000 to 60,000 miles for conventional automatics.
