We are incredibly proud of Travis—not simply for receiving this recognition, but for the compassion behind it. As a family and as the owners of Philly’s Towing, we truly care about the people in our community. To us, this is more than a business—it is an opportunity to help our neighbors when they may be having one of their hardest days.

We want our community to know that we are here through the good days and the difficult ones. Sometimes people need more than a tow; they need someone willing to stop, listen, and show them that they matter. We may not always be able to fix every situation, but we will always do our best to lead with kindness, compassion, and understanding.

Having our young son there to witness his dad’s actions made this moment even more meaningful. We hope our children always remember that helping others is never insignificant and that one act of kindness can make a lasting difference.

Thank you to the Georgetown Police Department for recognizing Travis, and thank you to our community for continuing to trust and support our family and Philly’s Towing. We are truly grateful and honored to serve the community we call home. 💙

Today we presented Mr. Travis Angel of Philly’s Towing with a Letter of Appreciation for being an incredible example of what it truly means to be a Good Samaritan.

Mr. Angel was called to tow a vehicle that was stopped on the side of the road. When he arrived, he discovered a young man sleeping inside the van. Rather than simply doing his job and towing the vehicle, Mr. Angel took the time to talk with him. He learned that the young man was trying to earn enough money by DoorDashing on foot to purchase a new tire for his van. This young man was doing everything he could to get back on the road and keep moving forward.

Mr. Angel could have simply completed the tow and gone on his way. Instead, he chose compassion. He took the young man to get a new tire and paid for it himself.

That act of kindness may have seemed simple in the moment, but we hope Mr. Angel knows how powerful it was. He didn’t just help someone with a flat tire, he reminded someone that there are still people willing to stop, listen, care, and lend a helping hand when life gets difficult. And perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of this story is that Mr. Angel’s young son was there to witness it. What an incredible lesson for a child to see firsthand: kindness matters. Compassion matters. Helping others matters.

Thank you, Mr. Angel, for choosing compassion and for reminding all of us what being a good neighbor looks like.

🚌🚦back to school🚦🚌

🚌 NEW KENTUCKY SCHOOL BUS SAFETY LAW 🚌

As students get ready to head back to school, the Georgetown Police Department wants to make everyone aware of important changes to Kentucky’s school bus stopping law, which took effect on July 15, 2026.

What You Need to Know:

🚦 Drivers must stop for a school or church bus displaying flashing red lights and an extended stop arm, regardless of the direction they are traveling.

The only exception: Drivers traveling in the opposite direction are not required to stop only if the roadway has four or more lanes that are separated by an elevated barrier or an unpaved median.

Remember: A four-lane roadway with a painted center turn lane is not exempt. If there is no physical barrier or unpaved median, all traffic must stop.

Vehicle Owner Responsibility:

If a vehicle illegally passes a stopped school bus and the driver cannot be identified, Kentucky law now presumes the registered owner or lessee was operating the vehicle unless that presumption is successfully rebutted.

Our children’s safety depends on all of us. Please slow down, eliminate distractions, and always be prepared to stop when you see a school bus displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm.

A few moments of patience can make all the difference. Let’s work together to keep our students safe this school year.
