They can accommodate trailers up to 30ft long, and boats that are 10ft wide and up to 13ft tall. As everyone is gearing up for a long weekend, we ask that everyone remember to do their "before leaving the dock" inspection and to also abide by the rules of the water. We want everyone to have fun, but also make it home.

As important, take the time to remember why we have a long weekend. All the men and women who served and put their life on the line to protect all of us and our country as a whole. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

Yesterday was the start of Boating Safety Week! So for day 2, here are the "Before Departure" things you need to check off your list:

1. CAN EVERYONE ON BOARD SWIM?! If the answer is no, then it is advisable that whoever can not swim stays off the boat. There are local organization's that offer swim classes regardless of age.

2. Check the weather! It is important to check weather conditions before leaving the dock, especially in the afternoon as that's when storms tend to hit in the Summer months

3. Make sure you have all necessary paperwork/documentation. Make sure to have your Boater License(if applicable), a government issued ID with picture, proof of insurance and current registration.

4. Life jackets. Make sure there is a life jacket on board for every person and that they fit properly.

5. Make sure to have a throwable floatation device, oars, and visual distress signals on hand. If your visual distress signal is a flare, check to make sure it has not expired.

6. Make sure all fire extinguishers are quickly accessible, in working condition and not expired

7. Test the horn and compass. It's a good idea to have an additional non-electric horn on board, like an air horn, in the event of power failure.

8. Is there at least half a tank of fuel? If not, it might be a good idea to put more fuel in before leaving the dock. It's never a good idea to risk running out in the middle of the lake.

9. Do the navigation lights work? you have to make sure ALL navigation lights are working. Also, do you have a lanyard for the killswitch????

10. And lastly, do you have a first aid kit on board? Make sure it is stocked appropriately, and nothing is out of date.
