I went to work today and made sure everything was turned over since it was going to rain. I’ve prepped for high winds in the past by putting everything in the rack and tying it up but I wasn’t able to do that today with my foot injury. All I could do was hope for the best….
Y’all know I try to always answer my calls and glad I did this eve when one of the boaters called to let me know I had a kayak floating. When I arrived the construction barricades were blown over and several kayaks blown out of the rack, including one that was locked with a cable. Many were blown 10-20 feet from their original location! I had 4 floating in the water. Was still raining a little and cracks of thunder and lightning but I couldn’t leave them in there. My guide showed up and we got them all out. The last 2 had floated far from my dock so I had to go to the other side of construction area to retrieve them. I got into big yellow double to paddle over and capture one that was floating. The double was missing a seat, so I assumed it had sunk as these 2 were very far from their original spot. When I reached the last tornado victim, the missing seat was inside it!
So, I think I recovered all my equipment and I definitely had some help 😇 thank you to all those looking out for me and the helpers that are right there when you need them!

It takes a whole community working together, all the little bits add up to a lot!! We can all clean up litter when walking or kayaking, but when you kayak and clean up with me I will give you treats!!

Do you have all your DUCKS in a row for the weekend?! Kayak or paddleboard into the sunset with our Friday group, or bring your own peeps. Open late Thursday Friday Saturday and maybe other days if you ask nice 😊

I’m in early today for some families who are going out in double and triple kayaks to enjoy the nature preserve, playground, and beach. 🏖️ that’s my kind of Monday!!
