Diesel prices have everyone struggling right now!

This post is not intended to be political. Just some examples of how much fuel we use to tow a car or move a piece of equipment. A 10 mile tow isn't just 10 miles but closer to 35 with enroute, loading, tow, unloading, returning. We will use the higher number of the average.

Light Duty flatbed~ 10 mile tow is about 35 miles traveled. 3.5 gallons for $21.00 in diesel.

Heavy Equipment Transport~ 25 mile transport is about 90 miles traveled. 22.5 gallons for $135.00 in diesel.

Heavy Duty Wrecker~ 20 mile tow is about 70 miles traveled. 12 gallons for $72.00 in diesel.

Loaded Tractor Trailer~ 100 mile haul is about 350 miles traveled. 50 gallons for $300.00 in diesel.

These aren't hypothetical or inflated numbers they are actually conservative to not come across as being exaggerated.

Every year we buy a Business License for every City in the County. We are almost to Our 54th year of being in Business. We have an awesome Customer Base that we have worked hard for. It is so frustrating to have a Customer call and say they were refused their request by a Police Department! You have the Legal Right to request!

Alabama Towing And Recovery Association

The Supreme Court just fundamentally changed the freight brokerage risk landscape.

In a unanimous 9-0 decision, SCOTUS ruled that negligent hiring claims against brokers are NOT preempted under the FAAAA. The Court held that requiring brokers to exercise reasonable care in selecting carriers “concerns” motor vehicles and therefore falls within the safety exception.

Most important line in the opinion:

“Some carriers are known to be less safe; some truck drivers are known to be unfit.” — Justice Kavanaugh

This is the clearest signal yet that carrier-level vetting alone is no longer enough.

The industry is moving toward:
• Driver-level vetting
• Identity verification
• Behavioral risk monitoring
• Continuous compliance intelligence

The old model was: “Is the carrier authorized?”

The new model is: “Who is actually behind the wheel?”

This ruling will accelerate that shift fast.
