Sometimes the best feedback starts with a little skepticism.

Jonathan has been with DealerRE since 2018, and years later, he says the decision has changed his business for the better.

What stands out to us most? It’s not just the financial side. It’s the support, the relationships, and the impact on his customers too.

Thank you, Jonathan, for trusting the DealerRE team.

When a customer buys a warranty, that money doesn’t simply disappear.

It moves through a program that pays claims, covers expenses, and may leave underwriting profit behind.

As a dealer owner, you should understand:
Where does the money go? Who controls it? And who benefits when the program performs well?

Those are questions worth asking.

A great month is good. A valuable dealership is better.

Monthly profitability matters, but strong dealership owners are also thinking beyond this month’s P&L.

What assets are you building behind the business? Where is value accumulating? And are the programs you operate today helping create long-term wealth in addition to short-term profit?

The goal isn’t to choose between profitability today and value tomorrow. It’s to build a dealership that can do both.

CPI and debt cancellation can both help protect against risk, but they work very differently.

CPI, or Collateral Protection Insurance, is force-placed insurance that protects the collateral and can respond to both partial damage and a total loss.

Debt cancellation is not insurance itself, but a waiver product that applies when the vehicle is a total loss. It is also typically less expensive than CPI.

Understanding the difference can help dealerships determine which solution makes the most sense for their program.

Tax season starts long before you file your taxes.

Q4 is the time for dealership owners to take a closer look at how their reinsurance program has performed throughout the year and understand where they stand before December 31.

That means sitting down with your DealerRE team, CPA, and other trusted advisors to review performance, discuss year-end considerations, and make informed decisions while there’s still time to act.

Don’t wait until tax season to start the conversation. Use Q4 to understand the numbers and head into the year-end with a plan.

DealerRE has always been about more than reinsurance.

It’s about relationships, trust, and helping business owners build something that lasts.

For Tim Byrd, Taylor, and Parker, this business is personal. As a family-led team, they bring experience, perspective, and a shared commitment to serving dealers the right way.

That means more than setting up a program. It means being available, answering questions, and building real relationships with the people behind the dealerships we serve.

Because when you’re helping someone build long-term value, the people behind the process matter.

Family-led. Relationship-driven. Focused on what lasts.

Not every claims year looks the same.

Some years, claims are lower. Some years, they’re higher.

That’s why dealer-owned reinsurance isn’t something to set up and forget.

A strong structure matters. Healthy reserves matter. Ongoing monitoring matters.

Because when claims fluctuate, the goal is not to be caught off guard. The goal is to be prepared.

Protecting what you’ve built means understanding that not every year will look the same and making sure your program is built to handle both the good years and the challenging ones.

DealerRE client Tracy Myers shares three reasons his administrator obligor reinsurance company has mattered to his dealership:

It gave the dealership access to cash flow when they needed it most.

It gave Tracy more control to make decisions that helped customers without always having to rely on a third-party warranty company.

And it created a competitive advantage by giving his dealership another way to stand behind the warranties they sell.

For Tracy, reinsurance isn’t just a financial structure. It’s a tool that has helped him run the business with more flexibility, more control, and more confidence.

GAP sounds complicated, but the idea is actually pretty simple.

Let’s say a customer owes $30,000 on a vehicle. Then the vehicle is totaled, and insurance only pays $25,000. There’s still $5,000 left on the loan.

That’s the “gap.”

GAP coverage is designed to help cover that difference between what the insurance company pays and what the customer still owes.

Simple concept. Important protection.

And for dealers, it’s also one of the F&I products worth understanding as part of the bigger picture.
