Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of summer here in the White Mountains of New Hampshire - and Berlin-Gorham is OPEN FOR BUSINESS! The ATVs & SXSs were all over the place. As usual, there is always a percentage of visitors' and passersby's vehicles that need to be towed back home - and between me, my father, and Gene, all three of our trucks have been criss-crossing New England all weekend long - including today on the Monday holiday! Tows from Errol to Gorham (where I snagged a selfie @ LL Cote - but I couldn't see the "White Moose" because that particular section of the store was closed), Shelburne to Farmington ME (where I snagged a selfie @ the now defunct Ridlonville Diner on my return trip through Mexico ME), from Berlin to Laconia, from Berlin to Berkshire VT, from Berlin to Peabody MA, from Jackson to Gorham, as well as some local tows. 2017 FORD ESCAPE FRONT LEFT CV SHAFT REPLACEMENT - STANDARD TRIPOD OR AAR (ANGULAR ADJUSTED ROLLER)?
*There were two possible part numbers listed for this application. One was listed simply as a "CV Shaft", and the other was listed as "CV Shaft - AAR". However, there was no other info given to help determine which one was needed for this application.
*The local parts stores had the regular ("Standard Tripod") CV Shaft in stock, but not the AAR. This would usually indicate that the non-AAR shaft is the more common part.
*For further clarification, we posed this question to the parts department of a large, leading Ford dealership. They said they were unable to determine whether the vehicle called for an AAR or not, but were able to give us the part number listed.
*A query on Google AI told us that the use of the "AAR" CV Shaft vs. the "Standard Tripod CV Shaft" was determined by FWD vs. AWD and the engine size - but did not specify which. So we took the Ford part # and crossed it via the parts interchange section of a leading parts store website - and finally, it listed the AAR CV Shaft as the called-for part.
*Sometimes I'm surprised by the amount of research needed just to determine the correct part for the job. If you work in this field or otherwise have knowledge on this subject, please feel free to add your two cents worth to the comments. 😀

This 1940 Buick Roadmaster Sports Coupe has just found its new forever home in Miami, FL. They came and loaded it up today and it’s bound for warmer weather. We’ve enjoyed having it grace our lot these past couple years. We’ve taken it to car shows from here to Stowe, VT, and it has even taken a couple trophies.
We’ve gotten attached to it, and it’s bittersweet to see it go - but it helps to know it’s going to a father and son team that plan to care for it for the next several decades. Bon voyage, beautiful Buick!
