Jet outboard maintenance. Pretty simple. Grease lower with 2-4-C every trip till the water comes out the grease hose. Replace $$$ with expensive impeller and linner every months to a year when you run one 3-4" of water regularly like I do. One of the coolest inventions in the marine industry in my book.

Had to share this cool tool i got. Its a reversed thread chaser. Say the first few threads of a spark plug hole are messed up bc you gave simple instructions to a 17 year old and he ran those spark plugs in their home sideways. You insert this tool though the threaded hole. Expand the threads on the tool and back it out backwards. It takes any shavings with it. Alot easier then cutting threads with a tap and hoping its straight. Im always upgrading and trying different stuff to become a better technician. Thought I'd share.

This one was a head scratcher. Mercury 75 low hours*70ish. Crank no start. 43 psi while cranking spark on all four cylinders. No recent codes. Checked timing, pulse from crank sensor via oscilloscope, voltage dropped power wires, relays, tested tons of stuff and I narrowed it down to a possible injector spray pattern issue while cranking. To verify i pulled the injectors and tested the spray pattern and the volume amount. Two injectors were way off spec. I ultrasonic cleaned them and reverse flushed the injector screens. After installing the injectors the engine fires right up. Goes to never assume just because a outboard has low hours it wouldn't have clogged injectors.

I see this more amd more now. Low hour outboards having injector issues. Yes you're engine might have 4 different filters by the time it reaches the injectors, but fuel varnish from today's fuel is a big issue. I see it with and without ethonal fuel. Im going to say its probably not a bad idea to run a fuel injector cleaner every other tank with today's modern outboards.
Thank you to all my awesome customers and i hope yall have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

Let's talk fuel systems maintenance. Replace your fuel filters every year. Yes, the cost sucks, but I promise you you will enjoy long years of trouble free boating. Stay ontop of your maintenance. Boat maintenance is 100x more important then vehicles. They are super picky about fuel systems. Like I have said before 90% of my service calls is preventable. Its related to fuel. Call or text 864-905-9581. Last minute 4th of July "needs to run by then" isnt going to happen. I stay pretty booked up. If you're on Greenwood I might be able to fit you in. Saturdays im in Greenwood. Fridays normally Lyman Greer area.
