The word for the day saturday was survival.
Riley pulled a decent but not great pill draw which had Jake starting 5th in the heat race. Jake would rally back after an early spin to avoid a wreck in front of him to finish 5th.
The crew went to work throwing the kitchen sink, the bathtub and just about everything they could at Cherry to get her handling better for the feature.
Now the fun starts, Jake would start 9th in the feature. The first start of the feature was called off after the green was throw and almost caused the field to stack up getting into turn 1. On the restart one of the lead cars spun in front of the field cause a waffle house stack up in 1 and 2. Luckily Jake was able to dodge that wreck. Jake would then have to test his skills to dodge another wreck that happened right on his nose. After the restart jake would find himself in the top 5 and would pick his way up to 3rd where he would finish.
All and all even though it wasnt a win the car came home with no damage, and managed to salvage a good finish after getting buried deep.

Cherry is in the box. Next stop shadyhill speedway tommorow night.
Jake and Pops have been hard at work doing some homework and finding alittle more speed this week. We are hoping to improve that 1 more spot and get our first win of the season.

For our Memorial Day weekend we made our way to Shadyhill speedway for the Shadyhill 500. Riley drew a 23 for Jake this time, which is at least 5 spots better than last weekend!😂 In hot laps Cherry looked amazing and Jake said she felt like she was dialed back in! The car handled good in the heat but Jake felt like the car was lacking forward drive off the corner. Ended up Starting 3rd and finishing 2nd in the heat. The crew got to work after the heat making changes to Cherry to make Jake more comfortable for the feature. During the feature the car was much better on the throttle center-off than earlier in the night and really came alive once rubber started laying down. Could’ve used just a little more drive off to get past the leader. Overall we’re happy with the speed and balance. Jake started 3rd in the feature and brought home 2nd. We couldn’t be more proud of him and Cherry.

Well unfortunately due to high diesel prices and really no tracks racing late models thats close enough to home the team made the decision to keep cherry home this weekend.
We will still get our racing fix as the team will be at shadyhill speedway tonight supporting and helping our teammate Damion Wilmoth.

Sucks when diesel prices are through the roof, the team had plans of doing quite a bit of traveling this season 😕

It's official! The first race of the season is in the books! We made our way to Shadyhill Speedway to defend our Championship title. We started the night off by drawing a 28 for the pill draw, which isn't what we were hoping for, but it also wasn't the worst. Jake said the track was great and the car felt near perfect! Drawing a 28 had him starting 5th in the heat. The car felt great getting in, but the track had a lot of character. Even though he had a rough ride, he finished 4th. After making some adjustments he started 5th in the feature. The track was dirty and crumby. He struggled getting ahold of the track on the throttle. Thankfully he and Cherry were able to avoid a few wrecks and were able to make their way up and finished 2nd! All in all it was a good night! Cherry is back in the shop and will be getting some TLC week to prepare for the next one!
