July Total Loss Recap 🚗

Not every vehicle that comes into a collision shop can be safely or economically repaired.

Sometimes the damage looks minor from the outside, but once we perform a complete teardown and create a proper repair plan following the manufacturer’s (OEM) repair procedures, hidden damage is discovered. That hidden damage can significantly increase the cost of repairs.

When the cost to repair the vehicle approaches or exceeds its actual cash value, the insurance company may declare it a total loss.

A total loss does not always mean the vehicle is beyond repair. It simply means that, based on the insurance company’s evaluation, repairing the vehicle is no longer economically practical.

Sometimes the damage isn’t from an accident.

This Ford Mustang came to us after being vandalized and keyed down the side. While it may look like “just scratches,” deep key marks often cut through the clear coat, basecoat, and into the primer or even the metal. That means they can’t simply be buffed out—they require proper bodywork and refinishing to restore the finish correctly.

For this repair, we:
🔹 Carefully inspected the full extent of the damage.
🔹 Repaired and prepared the affected panels to restore a smooth, factory-like surface.
🔹 Applied premium primer, basecoat, and clear coat using professional refinishing techniques.
🔹 Blended the color to ensure a seamless transition panel to panel.
🔹 Performed final polishing and quality control to make sure the repair met our standards.

Another vehicle safely back on the road. ✅

This Acura RDX came to us after a rear-end collision. Working directly with AAA Insurance, we completed the repair and restored the vehicle to its pre-loss condition.

Repairs included:

✔️ New rear bumper
✔️ Replacement rear tail lamps
✔️ Professional refinishing and assembly

One of the biggest challenges on this repair was matching Acura’s 3-stage pearl white paint. Pearl whites require precise color formulation, spray technique, and blending to achieve a factory-quality finish. We’re proud to say the final result looks exactly as it should.
