"It's air-cooled, there's nothing to winterize." 🙄
We hear it every fall. And look, it's half true. No radiator, no coolant, nothing to crack when it hits 20 degrees. That's one of the best things about an air-cooled Deutz.
But "nothing to freeze" doesn't mean "nothing to check." Swipe through before the first hard frost hits. 👉
✅ Battery: Cold weather is brutal on a weak one. Test it now, not on the morning you need it.
✅ Fuel: Diesel can gel when temps drop. Plan for winter blend or treatment.
✅ Oil: In an air-cooled engine, oil does double duty and helps carry heat away. Right grade, right level, no shortcuts.
✅ Cooling fins: Chaff and dust packed in the fins after harvest cost you cooling. Blow 'em out.
✅ Fan belt: On many air-cooled Deutz engines, that belt drives the cooling blower. Cracked or loose? Replace it before it quits on you.
✅ Cold-start system: If yours has glow plugs or a cold-start aid, make sure it's doing its job.
Always check your operator's manual for your exact model. And if something on this list needs replacing, you know who to call. 😉
Now be honest: which one of these have you been putting off? 👇
