Jay Brock is a true Hometown Hero who makes a difference in the lives of others through compassion, community service, and a heart for helping people.

As the owner of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home locations in and , Jay walks alongside local families during some of life’s most difficult moments. He helps families honor and celebrate the lives of loved ones with care, dignity, and compassion.

Jay’s commitment to the community extends beyond his work. He was a charter member of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard, helping establish a group dedicated to providing military honors for local veterans who have passed away. He has also spearheaded veterans' banner projects in both Hiawatha and Highland, ensuring local veterans are recognized and remembered for their service and sacrifice.

And when the holiday season arrives, Jay trades his funeral director's attire for a Santa suit! Each year, he participates in the Brown County Jingle Bell Ride, spreading smiles and Christmas cheer throughout Hiawatha alongside his favorite elf.

As Heather Pilcher shared in her nomination, “Jay is an amazing human. I’m proud to call Jay a friend and my favorite Santa Claus!”

From supporting families in times of loss to honoring our veterans and bringing joy to the community during the holidays, Jay demonstrates what it truly means to be a Hometown Hero. His kindness, dedication, and willingness to serve make a lasting impact on the people and communities he calls home.

Congratulations to Jay Brock, this week’s !
