🛟 Keep a 3–4 second following distance (more in rain, fog, or heavy traffic) so you have room to react.

🛟 Assume other drivers will make mistakes — don’t expect them to stop, signal, or stay in their lane.

🛟 Scan ahead and frequently check mirrors. Don’t just stare blankly ahead.

Left lane camper: “I’m just goin’ the speed limit”… then cars start trying to pass on the right, one gets cut off, and suddenly there’s a deadly wreck.

The camper didn’t hit anyone — but they created the exact conditions that made everyone else want to do something stupid.

In most states, the left lane is for passing, not cruising. When you plant yourself there, you tempt other drivers into unsafe lane changes and right-side passes.

Leave the left lane when you’re done passing. Don’t be the reason someone else has to risk it.

Don’t be the problem. Avoid the problem.

Nothing says “I’m emotionally stable” like smashing someone’s car window at a traffic light because you’re angry. 🤦‍♀️ Road rage is a slippery slope. Once it starts it spirals out of control. The rest of us don’t care who was wrong, we just want to get home safely.

🛟 Leave yourself an out
🛟 Never take it personally
🛟 If you’re heated, pull over and wait to drive until you are in a calm state of mind.

Not if you’re just impatient.
In Texas you can use a paved right shoulder only if it’s necessary and safe, and only to:

💠 stop or park
💠 speed up to merge
💠 slow down for a right turn
💠 pass a vehicle that’s slowing, stopped, 💠 disabled, or turning left
💠 pull over so a faster car can pass you
💠 follow a sign or officer
💠 avoid a crash

Don’t invent a lane. That’s a moving violation.

How much time do you think he saved?

Probably about 4 seconds. That move didn’t buy a minute, a moment, or a head start.

🛟Double yellow means NO.
🛟Don’t put someone else in danger because you didn’t leave on time.
🛟Oncoming traffic closes twice as fast as it looks.
🛟Don’t pass near hills, curves, intersections, driveways, school zones, or a car that’s already slowing.
🛟Signal, move left, get past, and return without cutting them off. If you can’t do all four cleanly, stay put.
🛟The time saved on a normal two-lane is usually seconds, then gone at the next light, turn, or slowdown.
🛟Being passed? Hold your speed and your lane. Don’t accelerate to block them, and don’t brake to “let them in.”
🛟Better safe than sorry!

Zipper merging keeps traffic flowing smoothly. It’s pretty simple -

Use both lanes all the way to the merge point. Then takes turns like a zipper. One car from the left, one car from the right.

Does early merging feel polite? It isn’t. When everyone piles into the open lane a mile early, you get a long backup. The zipper uses the full road, shortens the line, and gets more cars through the bottleneck.

The fight usually starts when someone thinks they are being cheated if they let someone in. Let one in and take turns. Just like kindergarten 👌🏼 Y’all got this.
