In 2008, we opened an additional seasonal location to make paddling more accessible by offering rentals at Seven Points Marina. A few weeks back in the real heat wave, we did something a little different and set a bike shuttle for our ride to include one of the shortest rides we've done, include a paddle portion as well. A combo we hold near and dear to our hearts and history. And something we suggest everyone set up at some point. We didn't get any photos of the ride. So to make up for it, I put in a picture of a sweet little creature I met on a hike. This should hopefully make up for the lack of bikes in the Wednesday Night Recap.

This upcoming Saturday, the 25th, our in-town location will be Closed for the very special event of the wedding of our co-owner, Emil, and our unofficial, unpaid, overachieving sales woman, Taylor. If you were hoping to pick up a kayak or bike that day, call in and we may be able to set up a rental with a lock or work it in on Friday without the charge of an extra day. The Lake Shack will still be open for those looking to get on the water.

We are sorry for the inconvenience but are so excited for these two. Feel free to come in and congratulate them next week after their special day.

Continuing our catch-up on Wednesday Night Ride Recaps, two weeks ago we stayed cool on McCool and caught the Rhododendron bloom on the gravel and trails of Rothrock State Forest.

Surprise Surprise, we have gotten way behind on posting our Wednesday Night Recaps. We will be putting out some consecutive posts to catch up.

Starting with last Wednesday's "Ride." Allegrippis and specifically Hydro-loop feel extra special when you get there by boat which is what we did! Us, bicycle enthusiasts, took a short road ride to Snyder's Run boat launch where a pontoon was magically waiting. We grilled, rode Hydro both directions, cooled off in the lake, Emil caught a whale(pictured 4th) we ate, drank, and were merry.

Group trips are some of our favorites. Guided or not, using our boats and bikes or using us just for logistics and transport, we are happy to aid in getting as many people outdoors as we can fit. River trip, mountain biking groups, rail trail rides, section hiking or biking shuttles, and more. Feel free to send us your ideas and dreams and we are happy to help.

The van fits 15 passengers, legally. We can fit 20+ kayaks on our van and trailer and our trucks and trailer can carry 12+ bikes. Call, email, or stop in to get on our schedule.

Kaitlyn Granger ’21 recently brought her work “Vessels in Balance: Tracing the Currents of Invasive Species” to Rothrock Outfitters, co-owned by Harry Biddle ’20 and Emil Eklund ’17, sharing a hand-painted canoe created during her Raystown Field Station Artist-in-Residence experience.

Rooted in her work as a Juniata staff member and her continued engagement as an alum, the piece explores the movement and impact of invasive species through a lens of art, ecology, and place-based learning.

The work will be presented again at noon on Friday, June 26, at the Huntingdon County Library, extending its reach into the broader community.

Every year we join up with our friends at Rothrock Outfitters to provide a canoeing experience at Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited’s Family Fishing day. For many it’s the first time in a canoe, and hopefully not their last.
