This Easter, we were reminded why we do what we do.
Several years ago, my husband Rich stepped away from the corporate world to become a certified RV technician. I’ll be honest—I struggled at first. I let fear and doubt creep in, even after he told me he had prayed and felt God’s direction clearly.
But God had a plan far greater than anything I could see.
Today, this business isn’t just a job for Rich—it’s a ministry. He genuinely cares about every person he meets, every story he hears, and every problem he gets to solve. I’ve watched him go out in snow, rain, and heat just to make sure someone is taken care of.
And today, on Easter Sunday, that purpose was clear again.
A family traveling the U.S. from Germany had no heat or hot water, with temperatures at 38 degrees. Rich didn’t hesitate. Because when people are in need, you show up.
This business has blessed us in ways we never expected—not just financially, but through the people we’ve met and the lives we’ve been able to touch.
We are so grateful for every customer who trusts us, supports us, and allows us to serve.

Happy Easter ✝️

Please pray for Texas tonight, and the coming days! As we go to sleep tonight, parents aren't able to tuck their children into bed. Entire families are missing, from an RV park. Homes are demolished. Pets are lost. Pray for our first responders, as they work tirelessly, searching for survivors. Pray for the survivors as they heal from the trauma.

This hits close to home, as we lived in Texas, own an RV, run an RV business and have grandchildren. This could be any of us, our friends or neighbors. Lord, hear our prayers.

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

Today is the most expensive holiday on the calendar. Every hotdog, every burger, every spin around the lake, or a drink with friends or family.. is a debt... purchased by others. This is not about all who've served.. that day comes in the fall. This one is to honor all those who paid in life and blood; whose moms never saw them again, whose dad's wept in private, whose wives raised kids alone, and whose kids only remembered them from pictures. This isn't simply just a day off. This is a day to remember- that others paid for every free breath you ever get to take. FREEDOM!

We, at Rapid Rv Repair, remember and honor all the women and men who died fighting for our freedom. Today, Peanut and Pixie came to work with Dad, so others can enjoy their holiday weekend.

Let's talk air conditioners!

It's starting to warm up here in Indiana, so if you haven't checked your air conditioner/s yet, it's time.

Turn on those air conditioners and hopefully, they're working. If not cooling or blowing out the coldest air, first thing you need to do is:
A) Clean the condenser coils. If still not working properly..
B) Give us a call!

Regular maintenance is key to getting the coldest air for these Indiana hot summers.

Camping Season Begins again, Opening day April 1, 2025
Here's a checklist of things to do to get your camper ready~

1) Dewinterize your camper, fifth wheel or RV.
2) Give it a thorough wash and cleaning. - some use regular dish soap, while others like Murphy's oil soap. For the awning, some people use "Reliable" cleaning a few feet of the awning at a time.
3) Tire & Wheel Inspection-
Check those tires- from any cracks, leaks, or dry rot. Check your tire pressure monthly.
4) Check your propane tanks for any leaks. Often, your seals will dry out over winter.
5) Battery Maintenance-
Check for any cracks from over the winter. If in good working order, disconnect and clean the battery connections with corrosion resistant cleaner and lubricant. Check the fluid levels.
6) Water system- test your water lines for any leaks. If you used antifreeze for the winterization of the camper RV, then you should run water through it until all of the antifreeze is removed from the system.
7) Stove top Gas Burners and Refrigerator- Turn on propane and lite your burners.
8) Water heater- Check for corrosion and loose connections. Change your anode rod at least once a year.
9) Furnace- inspect the outside of your furnace from anything blocking airflow.. mice and birds like to get in there.
10) Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors-
Always install new batteries before your first trip out, that way you ensure you have new batteries for the season. Also check your fire extinguisher, making sure the needles are pointed in green(full).

**Have an emergency kit in case you get stranded:
Solar phone charger, water, protein bars, first aid kit, water purification tabs, solar radio with NOAA, flashlight, batteries, handwarmers, waterproof matches, candles waterproof ponchos, lights ticks, utility knife and shop rags or paper towels.

** Have an emergency roadside kit-
Roadside reflective triangle, road flares, basic tool kit(4-way luggage wrench, pliers, screwdrivers, crescent wrench, wire cutters, tire valve stem tool), 5x7 blue tarp, fix a flat, heavy duty gloves, latex gloves, ice scraper, jumper cables, tow rope, duct tape, extra fuses.

The month of July has us repairing a lot of awnings.
Awnings provide protection from the sun/heat/rain and they give you extra living space. Let's dive in to tips on how to care for them.

8 BASIC TIPS to keep your awnings in shape:

1) Wash your awnings at least 2x a year, 3-4 x if you're living in full time. Awnings get moldy, mildew, cause odors and UV rays damage them.
a) Spray with a hose, use mild soap, be gentle clean with a soft, long handled brush, use a proper awning cleaner 1x a year. ie. Camcorder 41024 Pro Strength Awning Cleaner at Amazon for $21.68 / gallon

2) Allow awning to fully dry before storing

3) Lock awning in place before traveling, checking the lock mechanism for any rust, damage or repair needs.

4) Roll awning away when not in use, again, UV rays damage and break down your awning fabric.

5) Make adjustments for inclement weather. Most newer rv's have electronic sensors that will pull in your awning during high winds. However, it is your responsibility to ensure they are working. Pooling water causes wear quicker

6) Consider a stabilizer kit, this keeps the awning secure and free from flapping in windy conditions This may not be needed for all rv or campers.

7) Inspect your awnings 2x a year. Proper maintenance:
a) listen for unusual noises
b) look for resistance
c) Check parts for warping,
especially roller tube
d) checks arms, brackets, poles for
missing screws
e) Inspect end caps
f) Inspect mounting hardware
g) Roll up, listening for noises,
clicking
h) Test locking mechanism, pull
pull gently to see if it opens while
locked.

With proper maintenance, the average life expectancy should last 5-15yrs. Dirt and pollutants shorten life of the structure and deteriorate fabric. Vinyl is less resilient, can last 5-7yrs. Acrylic is more durable, lasting 8-12 yrs
