Here's something I've learned from over 15 years working with damaged wheels.

THE WHEELS CAN GIVE YOU CLUES ABOUT HOW A VEHICLE HAS BEEN TREATED!

🔴 Scraped wheel lips may indicate contact with curbs.

🔴 Deep gouges deserve closer inspection.

🔴 Uneven wheel damage might suggest a previous impact.

🔴 Fresh paint or cosmetic touch-ups can sometimes hide damage underneath.

Now, don't misunderstand me!

A scratched wheel doesn't automatically mean a vehicle has been abused.

And a beautiful wheel doesn't guarantee it's straight!

But when you're spending thousands on a used vehicle, checking the wheels is worth a few minutes.

If something looks suspicious, have a qualified professional inspect it before buying.

🚨 THE POTHOLE DIDN'T JUST HIT YOUR WHEEL! 😳

💥 WEST TENNESSEE DRIVERS — HERE'S SOMETHING YOU NEED TO KNOW!

You hit a pothole so hard your whole vehicle shakes.

You pull over, look at the wheel, and think:

"Well, at least the tire didn't blow out!" 😂

But here's the problem...

That impact can damage TWO things at once!

🔧 YOUR ALUMINUM WHEEL — The impact can bend the rim, especially around the inner barrel.

🛞 YOUR TIRE — The same impact can damage the tire's internal structure, even when the outside looks fine!

And here's where people get into trouble.

🚨 A CRACKED WHEEL DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN THE SAME THING

WHERE the crack is located can matter just as much as the crack itself.

Certain cracks in an aluminum wheel may be repairable after proper inspection. But cracks extending into critical areas such as the spokes or hub area are a completely different situation—and those are not something Rim Man 731 will repair.

Saving a wheel is never more important than wheel integrity and safety.

That’s why I don’t promise a repair or quote a final price from a picture alone. Photos are helpful, but sometimes the tire has to come off and the wheel needs to be properly inspected.

🚨 CURB RASH OR REAL WHEEL DAMAGE? THERE’S A DIFFERENCE.

That scrape around the edge may look terrible—but appearance alone doesn’t tell you what happened to the wheel.

Curb rash can be cosmetic, while a harder impact can also damage or bend the wheel lip. Before worrying about making it look perfect, the important question is whether the aluminum wheel itself is still straight and structurally sound.
