The 1961 24ft Lyman Sleeper is a classic wooden boat famous for its smooth ride and beautiful craftsmanship. Built by the Lyman Boat Works in Sandusky, Ohio, these lapstrake (clinker-built) boats are highly prized by collectors and vintage boating fans.

Key Features and StyleThe Smooth Clinker Hull: Lyman boats use overlapping wooden planks. This design traps air under the hull. It gives the boat its famous "soft ride" in rough chop.

The Sleeper Layout: The 24ft Sleeper features a small forward cabin. This area includes basic v-berths for sleeping, a small toilet (head), and sometimes a tiny sink or cooking area.

Open Cockpit: The back of the boat has a large, open deck. It is perfect for day cruising, fishing, or entertaining.

"Gorgeous" -$33,000
This boat has been pulled from the water at the end of each season and winterized and routine maintenance performed as needed.
2004 - 2010
* Purchased July 2004 from Minnesota (where it had came from a barn in Florida), the boat was named "Rite-Aid" and was ran on Lake Minnetonka before it was trailered.
* Lightly sanded and refinished all varnish, rechromed all fittings.
* Replaced original copper water lines with braided steel lines (retained the original copper lines)
* Steering wheel developed deep cracks. (refinished by "Bob the Steering Wheel Guy" out of New Jersey.
* Obtained copies of original owners manual and other related maintenance materials as well as copy of original sales invoice from Detroit CC dealer dated November, 1951.
* Maintained, trailered, and garaged during the winter.
2010 - 2017
* Used boat ~ 10x per summer on Lake Murray
2017 - present
* 2017 - Rebuilt engine at local engine rebuilder (Folks Machine, Norman OK). Engine block replaced due to cracks (new old stock obtained from vendor in Michigan). Replacement block had valve seats hardened so lead additive for gasoline is no longer needed. Engine is KLC with about 100 hours.
* Early 2019 had entire bottom replaced with 5200 (no soak - at Antique Boat Works in Cincinnati). 2 ribs replaced at that time also.
* 2019 installed fish finder and kept on a lift at Lake Thunderbird.
* July, 2020, had a tachometer rebuilt by Kocian instruments.
* Trailer had upgrades, spare tire, raised winch assembly, break away tongue, added bunks near keel, guide posts, u-bolts near rear to strap down.
* August, 2023 moved to a trailer and stored covered. June, 2025 flood caused boat to float downstream causing some damage that was repaired by Woodies Restorations.

Here’s a unique opportunity to own a classic 1967 Century Arabian, a standout in the world of vintage boats. This project boat is a gem for enthusiasts and restorers, featuring a powerful Chrysler 426 Commando engine with 290 horsepower. Motor runs and has decent compression, but will need some work to get her on the water. The Velvet transmission is locked in reverse and the condition of the V drive is unknown at this time. Trailer has new tires and brakes, but could use some upgrades. Boat does stand in need of a restoration as well as new fuel tanks and could use some upgraded upholstery and flooring. This project would definitely be worth your while so get your hands on it while you can!

Sunday we delivered a 1948 18 foot Utility to Iowa. We made a period correct exactly authentic color and texture Blue Russaloid interior and installed it. We did the final coat of varnish on the boat. We repaired some mechanical issues such as shaft and coupling half,Carburetor rebuild, and alignment. We also installed the new stainless rubrail and built a brand new highly polished cutwater. For the trailer we built a new bow stop. Last, we cut our ow graphics now so we can make them perfect!
The client was extremely happy with the result.
