I wanted to share a passion project that I recently finished! Straight from my childhood, It's the trolley from Mister Rogers Neighborhood! I painstakingly recreated the original prop 1:1 with help from online files and reference photos I took of the original prop. I figured out and used the same materials and techniques (allong with some 3d printed and laser cut bits). I replicated hardware, brass work, blemishes, and painting to create what Mr McFeely himself described as "identical to the one from the show!"
This project was inspired by my grandfather who loved to tinker and make things after work in his basement. Some of the hardware on this piece was from his collection of scraps and screws over the years. It was also something I've wanted to build since I was 5 years old!
The feeling of a project like this coming together to installing the last screw and standing it up is a wild feeling. You spend months researching and building and when its all done, it feels like you see it for the first time and you wonder how it got here! Its truly something I cherish forever!
If you would like to check it out in person, it will be on display at the shop for a limited time!
