A pothole shaped like Wisconsin is honestly the most Wisconsin thing imaginable. You’ve got the outline, the rough edges, probably a little extra chunk missing where the lake would be. It feels less like road damage and more like the state itself just decided to melt directly into the pavement out of pure Midwest energy.

Wisconsin roads somehow stay chaotic no matter the season. One day everything looks fine, the next day your entire lane feels like it was gently shaken and left to settle however it wanted. Construction cones show up, disappear, then come back like they’re part of a long running tradition nobody fully understands.

This pothole perfectly captures the Wisconsin driving experience. You’re not just avoiding bumps, you’re planning your route like it’s a strategy game. Every driver in the state has hit one so aggressive they immediately turned the radio down just to process what just happened before continuing on like nothing is wrong.

The fact that this one formed in the exact shape of Wisconsin feels intentional. Like the universe saw the roads and said, let’s really commit to the theme. At this point, just preserve it. Put up a little sign next to it. Call it “Wisconsin Infrastructure: A Self Portrait.” Because nothing says Wisconsin quite like a pothole that looks exactly like the place you’re trying to drive through.
