Artificial Intelligence is hailed as a workplace game-changer today, but in the late 70’s it was the “dumb terminals” that allowed us to work smarter not harder. The VT100 video terminal was “dumb” because it would take the data feed from the user and just write it to the screen, but it was BRILLIANT because it made unforgiving office typewriters obsolete. No one misses the sound of dot matrix printers and clearly no calls were transferred to that fancy phone.
