This was one of the worst axle seal leaks we’ve seen in a while! We got the rear axle removed from the differential, pulled the old seal, and got a new one installed.
Maintenance Tip - Keep an eye out for wet, oily spots around your wheels, on the inside of your tires, or underneath your differential. Another major warning sign is the smell of burning gear oil, which can occur when leaking fluid comes into contact with hot brake components or other hot surfaces. If you notice this smell, have your vehicle inspected as soon as possible!
Catching an axle seal leak early can help prevent excessive fluid loss, expensive differential damage, and gear oil contaminating your brake rotors and pads. Gear oil on your brakes can compromise braking performance, so don’t ignore the warning signs!
