1953 was the year Ford retired the F-1 badge and called it the F-100, part of a redesign timed to the company's 50th anniversary. Deluxe cabs even got a commemorative emblem on the horn button. It was also the first year a Ford pickup could be ordered with the Ford-O-Matic automatic, bolted behind the flathead V8 for one season only.

Seventy years later, the automatic idea holds up. This one runs a 6.2L LS3 with fuel injection and a 4-speed automatic, sitting on a Roadster Shop chassis with coil-overs and Wilwood four-wheel power discs. Pearl White over tan leather, with air conditioning, power steering and 210 miles since the build was finished.

1968 launched the C3, and it did it without a Stingray badge anywhere on the car. Chevrolet shelved the name for a single year before bringing it back in 1969. The coupe was new too, with lift-out T-tops and a near-vertical rear window that stowed behind the seats.

This one keeps the T-top roof and adds the hardware a 1968 never had. The 427 big block runs fuel injection and feeds a 5-speed manual, with four wheel discs underneath and cold air conditioning inside. Black paint over a to***co interior, restored and sorted, in Tampa.

When NASCAR first ran at Indianapolis in August 1994, the car leading the field to green was a Monte Carlo. The Corvettes were the official cars, running hot laps and carrying drivers on the parade lap. Chevrolet prepared just 25 convertibles for the job at the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, twelve in black and thirteen in red.

This is one of those red cars, and it has stayed with a single owner backed by heavy documentation. Torch Red over a Torch Red interior, LT1 350 V8, 57,169 actual miles. Fikse wheels and Baer brakes under the fenders give it some modern bite to go with the history.

The Boss 302's cylinder heads were never really meant for a 302. Ford took heads designed for the 351 Cleveland, an engine that wouldn't arrive until the following year, and bolted them to a small block, adding a high-nickel block with four-bolt mains. For 1970, the chromed valve covers gave way to cast aluminum, and the forward-facing shaker scoop sat on the options sheet.

This one has that shaker poking through the hood, backed by a numbers-matching 302 and a 4-speed manual. Medium Blue Metallic over a Corinthian White interior, with a 3.91 Traction-Lok rear to keep things honest off the line. A Marti Report comes with it.

Krypton Green started as a show car idea. Chevrolet put it on a 2017 Camaro 1LE at the Chicago Auto Show, then built it for the model year after the reaction. The hue traces back to the Camaro Krypton concept, and Chevrolet later added it to the ZL1 palette too. Green Camaros are common. That green is not.

This one is a 2017 SS in Krypton Green over black, carrying its numbers matching 6.2L LT1 and the eight-speed automatic. Brembo brakes came standard on the V8 SS, and Magnetic Ride Control was the option worth checking. This car has it, along with 5,937 actual miles.

Dodge planned on roughly 35,000 Chargers for 1968. Buyers ordered 96,100. The tunneled rear window and recessed grille that sold all those cars also worked against the Charger on NASCAR's high banks, generating lift at speed, which is exactly why Dodge flushed both of them out for the Charger 500.

This one was built for the road instead. The 383 breathes through EFI and Ho**er headers, backed by an A833 four-speed with overdrive and 3.55 gears. Bilsteins sort out the ride, power steering and four-wheel power drums keep it easy to drive, and the A/C makes Omaha Orange livable in Phoenix traffic.

Ford's 1936 half-ton carried the Model 51 designation, and its grille was a truck-only piece. The bigger commercial Fords used a different grille shape to match their larger fenders, so the little pickup wore a face all its own. Enthusiasts still call that grille the best part of the truck.

This build keeps the shape and rethinks everything behind it. A 327 V8 breathes through four Holley 94-style carbs, with a 5-speed manual doing the shifting and a custom chassis on air ride underneath. Yellow over black vinyl, short bed, sitting in Fort Worth.

The black and gold look everyone recognizes from 1977 came down to one option code, but it was really two. Y82 got you the Special Edition with Hurst T-tops, while Y81 was the same package with a solid roof. The Hurst Hatch itself had arrived a year earlier on the 1976 Limited Edition, and 1977 brought the restyled quad-headlight nose and honeycomb grille that gave the car its "Batmobile" nickname.

This one is the Y82, T-tops and all. Starlight Black over Buckskin Tan, 6.6 liter V8 backed by the three-speed automatic, with dual exhaust and air conditioning. The 8-track in the dash is the detail that seals it, and the odometer reads 50,027 miles, believed actual.

The 327 small block opened the 1969 Camaro order sheet as the base V8, then quietly disappeared. Around January of that year Chevrolet swapped it out for the 307, so a factory 327 marks an early build. It was the last Camaro to carry the engine at all.

This RS convertible still has its numbers matching 327, backed by a TH350 three speed. One family has owned it since 1970, which says plenty about how it was kept. Hugger Orange over ivory buckets, with a power top and front discs for the way you'll actually drive it.

The "A" in GTA was not styling shorthand. It marked a GT ordered with Ford's Select-Shift Cruise-O-Matic, and 1967 was the only model year Ford hung that badge on a Mustang. The Cruise-O-Matic is exactly what the A referred to, and the GTA was simply a GT with an automatic. It arrived the same year the S-code 390 big-block joined the option sheet.

This one is the combination that makes the badge mean something. S-code 390 V8, GTA package, three-speed automatic, with a Marti Report to back the story. Lime Gold over black vinyl, fastback roofline, and cold air conditioning for Tampa summers.
