I know - we’re all watching the sky to see if it’s falling. ☔️ During high hail threats, sometimes it’s good to park under trees….however, during high wind threats, you don’t want to be under trees… 🌳 🫣

Stay C😎😎L friends! 🥵

Sit down, darlings. We need to have a slightly more serious chat about today’s severe weather potential because Mother Nature appears to have chosen theatrical violence.

Note: ISC's Josiah Maas will be LIVE with an update around 12:30pm, so keep that in mind and your peepers peeled for that.

At the time of writing this forecast (7:30am EDT), guidance has us a wee bit troubled. The SPC has blanketed a large portion of northern Indiana under an Enhanced Risk (Orange - Level 3/5) for severe weather, with a Slight Risk (Yellow - Level 2/5) stretching as far south as the greater Terre Haute area and a Marginal Risk (Green - Level 1/5) for the remainder of the Hoosier Kingdom. More notably, they’ve highlighted the potential for jacked up giga-chad spinny bois (EF2-3), particularly across northern and northeastern Indiana, where the greatest concern currently resides.

This is not the day to shrug and hope the weatherman simply missed the mark. Today is the day to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best. Have a safety plan. Know where you would go if warnings are issued, and - for the love of all things holy - please have **multiple reliable ways to receive warnings**. Indiana is not known for being a slouch when it comes to severe weather and tries to keep up with the big dogs out in the plains as much as it can when it comes to throwing meteorological curveballs. We blame Evansville's bad influence for this "pick me" behavior.

Anyway...

We highly recommend the WeatherCall NextGen service be one of those methods. Their 24/7/365 location-specific monitoring, warning texts and calls, and “all clear” notifications are genuinely top-tier. The link is pinned and we’ll drop it in the comments for easy access.

Now then… For those of you who enjoy a little meteorological foreplay, let’s talk nerdy.

The remnant showers currently lingering across central and southern Indiana will continue pushing out over the next few hours. Meanwhile, the primary troublemaker - an ongoing and organizing **MCS (Mesoscale Convective System)** - is already doing its thing in Iowa and is marching eastward toward Indiana while actively producing tornado warnings at this time. It has an unchecked attitude problem and it's definitely planning on making it our problem in a hurry.

As we head into this evening and overnight, one or two organizing storm clusters are expected to develop, bringing the potential for damaging winds up to 80mph, large hail, torrential rainfall, flooding, and yes… Strong tornadoes. While an earlier round of pop up storms cannot be ruled out, the main event increasingly appears to be a nocturnal rodeo, with greatest concern generally after 7pm through around 5am, and peak potential likely between 9pm and 5am.

Guidance continues to support the theory of strengthening upper-level winds and increasing moisture, storms will become surface-based and capable of producing widespread damaging winds.

Additional storms may fire along an approaching cold front and nearby boundaries, where strongly sheared conditions could support discrete supercells capable of large hail and tornadoes - again, we're going to stress that a few could potentially be strong to intense. There does, however, remain some uncertainty regarding exact storm placement and how long isolated supercells can maintain themselves before merging into a larger line, but the SPC has noted that tornado probabilities may yet increase as details become clearer through the day.

Our greatest concern currently sits west of I-69, but please understand: weather is gloriously rude and occasionally changes its mind. Timing may speed up. The track could shift north or south. The system could partially blow itself apart and leave us mostly arguing with wind and rain.

Meteorology isn't fortune telling - it’s educated chaos and it doesn't come with a crystal ball or even a Dollar Tree Magic Eight Ball. We do our best and strongly focus on keeping you guys safe and sound. That said, we aren't here to panic you. We are here to help you make informed decisions that protect you and the people you love. We happen to be rather fond of you darling weirdos and would be genuinely heartbroken to hear something preventable happened because someone didn’t have a plan.

So today’s assignment is simple:
- Have a plan
- Stay weather aware
- Charge your smart devices
- Have a better warning system than trying to rely on sirens or your weird neighbor shouting from his porch. Seriously. Neither of those are reliable of acceptable.

You've got this and we're right here with you through it all. Any updates will be posted throughout the day and Josiah Maas will be live around 12:30pm to help answer any questions you may have. We'll be out in the field tonight and will do everything in our power to bring you information in a safe and timely fashion. In short... We'll be mainlining the caffeine and staying up until the all clear.

As always;
Stay Aware. Stay Safe. And Don’t Get Twisted.
