The No. 9 Coal Mine & Museum is looking for donations for our upcoming basket raffle!
If you or your business would like to donate a themed basket, gift certificate, gift card, or other raffle item, we would greatly appreciate your support. Every donation helps us continue preserving the rich history of our region.

As we celebrate America's independence, we remember and honor the hardworking miners whose dedication helped fuel our nation's growth and prosperity.

Looking for something fun to do this holiday weekend? We are OPEN all weekend and running our regular mine tours! Come escape the summer heat, take a ride into the mountain, and experience the rich history of anthracite coal mining. Don't forget to explore our museums and gift shop while you're here!

📢 We Are OPEN! 📢

We wanted to let everyone know that No. 9 Coal Mine & Museum is OPEN today and operating as usual!

Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing an internet and phone outage, so we are unable to receive phone calls at this time. Our team is working with the service provider to get everything back up and running as soon as possible.

If you're planning to visit, come on out—we're here and ready to welcome you! Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we'll update everyone as soon as our phone and internet service have been restored.

🖤⛏️ A New Piece of History on Display! ⛏️🖤

Today, our volunteers and staff spent some time rearranging and adding another piece of anthracite coal mining history to a new location on the grounds at the No. 9 Coal Mine & Museum.

An old drag bucket has been placed on display and filled with coal, giving visitors a closer look at the massive equipment that helped shape our region's mining industry. It's a simple addition, but one that helps tell the story of the hard work, ingenuity, and determination of the miners who powered America.

As always, we thank our dedicated volunteers and staff for helping preserve and share the rich mining heritage of the Panther Valley and surrounding coal region.
