🚗 A check engine light doesn’t always mean your vehicle needs expensive parts.
Clint recently had this 2016 Ford Fusion with the 2.5L engine in the shop after the customer experienced a reduced power concern and a check engine light with a P2112 throttle body performance code.
After taking the time to properly inspect the vehicle, Clint found heavy carbon buildup around the throttle body where the throttle plate closes. That buildup was causing the throttle body to stick and put the vehicle into reduced power mode.
Instead of replacing the throttle body, Clint cleaned it, verified everything was operating properly, and the reduced power concern was completely gone. ✅
By diagnosing the problem correctly and repairing the existing throttle body instead of replacing it, we were able to save this customer approximately $500 or more. 💰
This is a perfect example of why paying for testing time and an accurate diagnosis can actually save you money. It’s easy to replace parts based on a trouble code, but taking the time to find the root cause often prevents unnecessary repairs and gets your vehicle fixed the right way the first time.
