09/25/2026 | Echo Park Speedway Practice | Broxton POV
We can’t express how much our cameras have helped us teach Broxton and, just as importantly, figure out when something isn’t right with the car.
During Broxton’s first practice, everything looked good. He was running strong, and then, out of nowhere, he spun.
Broxton uses a gas-and-brake technique that he was taught by TJ Clark. What we didn’t know at the time was that his brake caliper was faulty.
One of the pistons was sticking against the rotor and not releasing properly. At other times, it would release and fail to re-engage. He never had equal pressure on his brake.
By the following morning, we could see the brake rotor beginning to warp, and the extreme heat had caused the brake fluid to disappear.
Broxton had essentially been battling a brake problem from the very beginning.
Somehow, this kid managed to run the first day at Echo Park with little to no usable brakes—and the little braking he did have was inconsistent and affecting how he drove.
This is racing. Sometimes the biggest battles aren’t visible from the outside.
As we continue recapping Nationals, you’ll understand more and more of what Broxton was battling inside that little #57 car…
And somehow, through all of it, he kept driving.
