Update: This portion of the highway has been opened. We apologize for the late update.

HIGHWAY CLOSURE - DETOUR

As of 1:00 pm on Thursday, the southbound lanes of 291 / 470 north of Colbern are shut down for an overturned semi. The shutdown is affecting the southbound lanes of 291 where it exits from the southbound lanes of I-470 to come into Lee's Summit. Traffic travelling south on I-470 can continue south / west and/or exit at Colbern Rd or Douglas. Traffic is not able to pass onto southbound 291 and proceed into Lee's Summit. The MO State Highway Patrol is working the accident along with help from MODOT/ Scout. The closure is expected to last several hours as the truck is removed from the roadway. Drivers travelling east on I-470 or north on 291 to merge onto I-470 may experience a slow down as well from distracted drivers viewing the crash site.
