We just had a beautiful Pearl White Accord towed in that had quit running.
It was out of oil. Empty. Engine destroyed because oil was not added when needed.
EVEN BRAND NEW CARS CAN CONSUME OIL. The newer the engine, the more likely it is to need oil added periodically.
This is easy. One photo shows an engine. The oil dipstick is the only thing under the hood that is orange colored.
Pull the dipstick out, look at the tip. The upper hole (dot) is full, the lower is 1 quart low. Anywhere in between is just fine.
On a warm engine, the stick has to be wiped off and re-inserted because oil splatters all over when running.
On a cold engine, just pull the stick and look at it. Make this a day off or weekend routine once a month. The penalty for not doing this runs between $7,000 to $12,000. That's the cost of a new engine.
This is simple and easy. You put gas in when you need it, right? Most of the time.
So, add oil to that task list.
