IHRA Bracket Programs Move Forward as New World Finals Host Track Needed

DragCoverage received word that The International Hot Rod Association’s bracket racing structure remains fully intact as the organization prepares for changes elsewhere in its operations. IHRA confirmed that its cornerstone sportsman programs—including Team Finals, the World Finals, and all bracket‑focused initiatives—will continue without interruption. The only adjustment ahead is the selection of a new World Finals host track, replacing Memphis for the upcoming championship event.

Yes, winners of the Finals events will be paid!

This bracket‑specific clarity comes as IHRA prepares to officially announce the shutdown of its Nitro Series for the season, a move that has fueled widespread rumors online. Despite the speculation, IHRA leadership stated that the sanctioning body has not announced any plans to fully shut down, and the bracket program remains the central focus of its rebuild.

Sanctioned race track owners spent the day in direct communication with IHRA, who reiterated that the organization is returning to its foundational strengths: supporting member tracks and sportsman racers. All bracket program staff and events remain unchanged, and planning continues for Team Finals and the World Finals once a new host venue is secured.

IHRA is expected to release an official announcement in the coming days, addressing bracket racers directly and outlining the path forward as the organization restructures around its long‑standing sportsman base.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IHRA Announces Strategic Refocus on Drag Racing

Fairfield, Ohio — The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) regrets to announce that the remaining events of the 2026 IHRA Nitro Drag Racing Series will not be contested as originally scheduled.

This was an extremely difficult decision. Following last week’s schedule update, IHRA’s management team continued evaluating the operational requirements necessary to complete the season at the level our racers deserve. It became clear we could not deliver the quality, safety, and professionalism that define IHRA competition. Rather than lower our expectations simply to complete the schedule, we believe concluding the 2026 Nitro season is the most responsible decision.

This announcement applies only to the 2026 IHRA Nitro Drag Racing Series. IHRA-owned drag racing facilities, weekly bracket racing, sportsman competition, Team Finals, and the IHRA World Championship will continue as scheduled. Racers should continue following their individual series and track communications for updates.

“Our roots started in drag racing,” said IHRA President Dustin Farthing. “The racers who fill the staging lanes every weekend are the foundation of IHRA. Our focus is on rebuilding from the ground up by investing in our member tracks, sportsman racing, and the grassroots racers who built this organization. We will not lower our event standards simply to say we completed a race.”

“This isn’t the end of national event drag racing, it’s a reset. By strengthening our foundation first, we’ll build a stronger future for our racers, tracks, sponsors, and fans.”

IHRA sincerely thanks its racers, teams, sponsors, volunteers, track operators, and fans for their continued support as we begin the next chapter of the organization.

One of the biggest weekends in drag racing is coming!

FAIRFIELD, OH. The International Hot Rod Association announced today that the 2026 IHRA Triple Crown Finale originally scheduled for Darana Memphis Motorsports Park has been moved to historic Darana Raceway Maple Grove Park, creating the historic Triple Crown x2 doubleheader weekend at one of drag racing’s premier facilities.
As much as the IHRA wanted to return to Darana Memphis Motorsports Park this season, scheduling constraints and the limited number of available weekends made it impossible to accommodate all Triple Crown events on the 2026 calendar.
The result is a once in a lifetime opportunity for race fans and competitors alike.
Darana Raceway Maple Grove Park will now host Triple Crown x2 during an action-packed four-day weekend, Sept. 10-13, featuring two IHRA Triple Crown events and some of the highest payouts in drag racing history.
The IHRA Triple Crown series will begin June 19-20 at Darana Raceway in Hebron, Ohio, before concluding with the historic Triple Crown x2 weekend at Darana Raceway Maple Grove Park in September.
The first IHRA Triple Crown event at Darana Raceway Maple Grove Park will feature qualifying on Thursday, Sept. 10, with eliminations on Friday, Sept. 11. The second Triple Crown race will include qualifying on Saturday, Sept. 12, followed by eliminations on Sunday, Sept. 13.
Fans will experience the thunder and excitement of 12,000 horsepower Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars blasting down the 1,000 foot racing surface at speeds exceeding 340 mph while chasing some of the highest payouts in drag racing history.
The million dollar IHRA Triple Crown bonus will be up for grabs for competitors in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Mod, Mountain Motor Pro Stock and IHRA Pro Stock. Any driver capable of sweeping the entire IHRA Triple Crown series, including the June 19-20 opener at Darana Raceway in Hebron, Ohio, and both Darana Raceway Maple Grove Park events, will earn a staggering $1 million bonus, creating one of the biggest paydays in drag racing history.
Also competing for huge payouts and bragging rights during the historic weekend will be Top Fuel Motorcycle, Nitro Harley, Fuel Altered, Outlaw Pro Mod, Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car competitors.
Single-day tickets are $40, with fans receiving a $10 discount when purchasing tickets online through IHRA.com. Weekend passes for the entire four-day doubleheader are available for $100.
Fans are encouraged to secure tickets early and witness the sport’s top stars chase record-setting speeds, massive payouts and a potential million dollar payday.
Tickets for all IHRA Triple Crown events are available now at IHRA.com

We appreciate the love and support of this article. When the IHRA Small Tire BRATZ Series came about the call was placed to verify that the Varsity Ford FX Ford Racing S650 was a sure fit in the class. There were questions and concerns and then it was off to the races. The combination is coming together, locking in fuel maps and electrical on Moran Motorsports Hub Dyno and then out testing to make the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series Spring Nationals in Hebron, OH May 7-9. 327" Coyote Ready to prove the Coyote platform in a S650.

Del Holbrook isn’t showing up quietly to IHRA Bratz from his move of Factory X.

His S650 just made the jump to a twin-turbo 327” Coyote built off a Ford Racing Werewolf block, a combo that’s not here to test… it’s here to push the racing world.

After what Brett LaSala did with Snot Rocket, the conversation around the Coyote has changed. It’s no longer “can it compete?” — it’s “how far can it go?”

This 327” setup is the next step.
More air, more boost, more pressure on the field.

And if recent history tells us anything…
when a Coyote starts figuring it out, everyone else starts looking at the rulebook. Lets hope its not the case for the Holbrook family here.

Best of luck Del, we are rooting for your success!

How fast can this Coyote go?! 👀
