🇬🇧 FILE 013 // Josh’s Taxi Spec 190D
A 1993 190D 2.0 in Lincoln, bought as a daily driver because it was in taxi spec, cream over brown. Three years later it has 306,666 miles on its original OM601 and still runs the manual gearbox.
Factory 623 Hellelfenbein, BC Racing BR-Type coilovers, Borbets with the arches rolled and pulled, a custom stainless exhaust, W126 washers and a smoothed aerial. Brazil Brown MB-Tex inside with a Momo California Heritage wheel and a Blaupunkt RCM92.
In February the front end came apart for ball joints and kept going. Wings and bumper off, everything underneath stripped, dipped and painted, and the bulkhead notched so the strut bar clears the bonnet.
It is off the road now. The next engine is an OM605 turbo, the goal is 500 hp, and he has period-correct Zender aero waiting after two years of looking.
Every car on the registry gets a number, a permanent file and its whole build log. 500 founding numbers, 114 filed.
72 hp and 306,666 miles, or 500 hp and start again. Which would you keep?
