500hp NA to the tires factory fresh isn't a bad start! Having factory port injection to supplement fueling should make for more cost effective upgrades without having to source bigger GDI pumps and injectors!
Boost District got one of the first 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X cars in the country, and before anybody started talking about boost, they strapped it to the dyno bone stock.
Quick note on the badge, because this one trips people up. The new LS6 is a 6.7-liter naturally aspirated Gen VI small block, not the 5.7-liter LS6 that came in the C5 Z06. GM rates it at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft on its own, and the Grand Sport X adds a 186-horsepower front electric motor for 721 combined.
On the dyno, measured at the rear wheels with the electric motor sitting out, the car ran 498, then 500, then 495 back to back. Boost District says the stock LT2 Stingrays and E-Rays they have baselined over the last several months came in anywhere from 421 to 459 at the wheels, which is a pretty big spread for cars that left the factory the same way.
Shop manager Justin went through the hardware next. The LS6 runs direct and port injection together, with the port injectors routed through the valve cover straight into the intake runner instead of sitting in the manifold. The combustion chambers are visibly shallower than the LT2's, which is where the 13.0:1 compression comes from, and there is a lot of material left in the heads for anyone who likes a porting table. GM also went with longer intake runners, a larger throttle body opening, and a Tri-Y header design in place of the LT2's single collector setup. None of it bolts to an LT2, which the shop confirmed the hard way.
For the 2020 to 2026 crowd, Boost District says it already has a 6.7-liter LT2-based combo on the shelf, naturally aspirated or boosted, and claims a twin-turbo version made around 1,000 to the wheels on 93 octane several months back.
A lot of people have already decided 13 to 1 and boost do not mix. Boost District seems very interested in proving otherwise.
Where do you land on it, does the LS6 take boost fine or is that compression ratio the real ceiling?
