Come for this view. Give yourself the day.

From Mount Jeez, autumn unfolds across Pleasant Valley: wooded hills brushed with gold, orange and red, rolling fields, and Malabar Farm’s white barn and silo below.

But the overlook is only the beginning.

Walk the wooded trails. Meet the animals in the barn. Take a guided tour of Louis Bromfield’s Big House, where Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were married. Visit Pugh Cabin, the filming location for the opening scenes of The Shawshank Redemption.

Stop into the Visitor Center for interactive exhibits, Ohio-made gifts and a little Malabar Farm fudge. Pack a picnic and make an afternoon of the countryside you came to see.

Fall in Ohio deserves more than a drive past.

Shadows creep across the screen. Live organ music fills the theatre. More than a century after its debut, this vampire still knows how to make an entrance.
