The Buick Skylark, a former passenger car model produced by Buick, underwent six distinct production runs over a period of 46 years, exhibiting significant design variations in response to technological advancements, shifting consumer preferences, and evolving regulatory standards. Named after the skylark bird species, the Skylark initially debuted as a limited-production luxury convertible built on the Buick Roadmaster's chassis for two years, before being reintroduced in 1961 as a high-end alternative to the Buick Special. It subsequently evolved into Buick's luxury performance model with the introduction of the Buick GSX.
As General Motors implemented downsizing measures in the late 1970s, the Skylark became the entry-level model, with the Special nameplate being relegated to a trim package designation. In the 1980s, the Skylark was redesigned as a front-wheel-drive vehicle, available in both coupe and sedan configurations across three generations.
