Our next show to support the Satellite Beach Lions Club is happening here on Saturday, October 3rd! The outdoor show is free to enjoy, and the entire museum will be open for a period during the show, with kids free and adults $30. More info can be found at: https://www.satellitebeachlionsclub.com/

While we were at the starting line for the Great Race in Springfield, Illinois, we headed south out of town along the old Route 66 to Chatham and the National Corvair Museum. It first opened in 1999 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, before moving to the current location in 2018. They focus on preserving Corvair history through sourcing, archiving, and maintaining the most accurate and complete history of the Chevrolet Corvair and the Corvair Society of America.

On display were around a dozen Corvairs, including a propane-powered example that went 170+ MPH. There was also a Fitch Sprint and even a Corvair Limo. For now, the museum is in Chatham, but they did mention moving the collection soon, so check before you go!

Please join us in wishing a very Happy Birthday to our friend, A.J. Hiers!

Since the American Muscle Car Museum opened ten years ago, A.J. has been incredibly generous in supporting local charities. More than a dozen donated vehicles have been given away to benefit organizations throughout Brevard County, including the upcoming Helping Seniors Car Giveaway on October 25th, 2026.

In addition to his philanthropy and successful dealerships, A.J. is a true car enthusiast and a great friend of the museum.

Here is another round of local car shows coming up across Brevard County over the next couple of months!

Tickets are on sale now for this awesome 1971 Dodge Hemi Challenger Tribute car, with money raised going to support the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation. As we do each April here at the AMCM, we are hosting the ALZ BBQ and Car Drawing here, where one lucky winner will take home this outstanding Challenger.

The 34th Annual ALZBBQ and Car Drawing, benefiting the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, will be held here on Saturday, April 24th, 2027, and tickets start at just $25. More information about the car, the event, and the Foundation can be found at ALZBBQ.com

The Revology BOSS 429 Mustang with the support truck and trailer have safely made it back to the American Muscle Car Museum from the Great Race.

Definitely an incredible experience, and all 6,339 miles of driving the support truck was an adventure.

This was a total AMCM team effort, with the support team driving in the truck and Ryan back at the Museum keeping everything running smoothly.

We wanted to share our experiences as a support team with the Great Race on this trip. Before heading out, we gave the 1969 Revology Boss 429 Mustang a full inspection in our shop, pulled wheels and tires, and gave the vehicle a full check-over with fresh fluids.

In the support team trailer, we took as many tools and pieces of equipment as we could safely fit in there for anything that might come up, along with extra parts. Starting June 12th, Mark was driving the Revology BOSS 429 Mustang up the East Coast, visiting several race tracks along with other notable stops. We left the AMCM on the morning of June 16th, headed to Springfield, Illinois, with the truck and trailer, and met Mark there that evening of June 17th.

Thursday June 18, morning started early as Karen and I applied all the sponsor decals to the car in the hotel parking lot before driving it for vehicle inspection and to check in at registration. Friday was our first practice run of the car, with Saturday being the official start day.

In the evenings we would check in with Mark and Curt as to anything we needed to address along with also get their run number for the next day so we could plan time accordingly for our tasks in the evening/morning, download photos and send to Andrew. We looked the vehicle over top to bottom, recheck tire pressures and recheck torque on the wheel lug nuts, check over all engine fluids, top off fuel tank, and then detail vehicle out along with the most important thing of getting ice for the small cooler with diet Coke and water for the driver and navigator. Once we felt confident of our inspection, we would turn over the key's to Mark and Curt for their day of driving, at that point, we would travel to the next city. Support teams are strickly forbidden from following the rally route and we have our own designated route to follow.

They had daily stops for the support crew and staff to visit, those are something we will share in the coming weeks, once we arrived in the next town we would check all of our team into the hotels and make sure everything was set and then travel to the designated trailer drop off area.

The Great Race was truly an incredible experience to be a part of and to see a lot of behind-the-scenes workings that all went on. It truly is tons of hours that the Great Race team puts in to put this on, it was also amazing to be a part of the camaraderie between the drivers, team owners, and support staff (over 500 total poeple involved) as a lot of evenings in the hotel parking lots meant working on the cars and getting them ready for the next day. I think we lent out more tools than we actually used and made many new friends. What an Incredible Adventure to be a part of!!

Our final stop on the Great Race was Pasadena, California, marking the end of the 2,300-mile journey across historic Route 66. As you have seen in our previous posts, we were lucky enough to have the 1969 Revology Boss 429 along for the rally, and it was nothing short of perfect.

When you add the Great Race miles to the drive up from Key West, the Boss 429 gave us around 5,000 trouble-free and memory-filled miles. Along the way, it earned hundreds of thumbs up, photos, conversations, and kind words from people across the country. While it is fun to drive anywhere, it proved to be the perfect companion for a cross-country trip.

Congratulations to Buddy Green and Trevor Stahl, the Grand Champions of the 2026 Hemmings Great Race. They drove a 1932 Ford five-window coupe to the overall win, claiming the $50,000 top prize at the finish line. Since we were a sponsor of the event, we were not eligible to compete for the overall win, but it was still an amazing experience to take part.

A huge thank you to Revology for allowing us to use their incredible Boss 429 for the Great Race. We would also like to thank Houston Gibson, Brad Phillips, Harriet Markham, and the countless others behind the scenes who made this such a world-class rally. From start to finish, it was a well-run operation, and we would encourage anyone with an interest to participate.

Days 7 and 8 of the Great Race were two of the shorter mileage days, but also some of the hottest and hardest on both the people and cars. Day 7 took racers from Flagstaff, Arizona, to Laughlin, Nevada, covering just under 200 miles. Day 8 continued from Laughlin to San Bernardino, California, adding another 250 miles to the trip.

Leaving Flagstaff, competitors dropped from nearly 7,000 feet above sea level down to about 600 feet. Along the way, stops were made in Seligman and Peach Springs, one of the places said to have helped inspire Radiator Springs from the movie Cars. The lunch stop was held at Locomotive Park in downtown Kingman.

With temperatures around 100 degrees, the group then took on the Oatman Highway along Route 66. The eight-mile stretch through Sitgreaves Pass is known for its steep switchbacks, narrow roads, and 191 turns, making it one of the most challenging sections of the route. After working their way through the pass and down out of the elevation, racers continued on to Laughlin, Nevada, for the end of Day 7.

Day 8 began in Laughlin, with the route heading another 250 miles west toward San Bernardino. Lunch was held in Twentynine Palms, California, where racers had a quick stop before getting back on the road and heading into Joshua Tree National Park. From there, the group continued toward North Palm Springs, where the winds were some of the most intense of the entire race.

The evening stop was at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino, where dinner included hot dogs, burgers, and tickets to the Inland Empire 66ers Single-A Minor League Baseball game. This would be the final overnight stop before the Great Race reached the finish line the following day in Pasadena.

As for the Revology Boss 429, we would like to mention that it once again had no issues at all, but by this point, you probably already knew that.

Day six of the Great Race started off cool in Albuquerque, but temperatures climbed quickly as teams headed west toward Flagstaff, Arizona. More than on previous days, the route used Interstate 40, the modern replacement for much of Route 66. Even with the highway miles, racers still had well over 300 miles to cover, and the weather took a turn in the afternoon.

The lunch stop was in Gallup, New Mexico, where the Great Race took over the small town. Lunch was held right on Historic Route 66 in the middle of town, giving racers and spectators a great place to gather before continuing west.

After lunch, the rain continued to follow the pack along I-40, with the route passing through the scenery near Petrified Forest National Park. Teams also passed through Winslow, Arizona, where people famously stand on corners.

By the end of the day, the cars began arriving in Flagstaff. While strong winds prevented the usual finish-line arch from going up, they did not stop the crowds from gathering in downtown Flagstaff to welcome the racers.

As for the Revology Boss 429, it once again ate up the miles without any concern. There have been no issues at all throughout the entire trip, going all the way back to the start in Key West. Here is a look at Day 6 of the Great Race.
